it is, but are we playing with a lot of offensive pressure and shots? no.

we need to be playing right in the middle of where carlyle likes to play and where wilson likes to play.

good d, and some offense.

- big_dion

I agree with that. Something's changed bc the style was different last year especially on breakouts. No one carried it. They passed their way out with short quick passes

It is a little comical that were discussing firing Carlyle no? I get that there needs to be some changes made, to either the systems being used for certain players, or the players need to be changed...but I think he's doing alright considering.

There has been a drop in stats, though.

Tied 5th in the Eastern
2nd overall PP
20th in PK
7th in blocked shots
2nd in hits
25th in FO%
1st in giveaways

What should be considered however is that with a healthy team these should round off a little more toward the positive.

- Colin Dambrauskas

gardiner going from the most minutes on the ice - to the press box

0 shots in 25 mins of hockey.

identical meltdown to the game 7, did he learn nothing?

there are some other glaring problems that are coach related if u ask me.

It would be nice.. Laviolette may be a good coach but I've noticed some nights the flyers were great, and other nights not so great. Leafs aren't firing Carlyle anytime soon.
- Arctic_AARDVARK

agree on that. i just like Laviolette though and always have. his teams are always entertaining. and he's a bit psychotic.

Instead of entertaining the thought of trading Gardiner why don't Leafs' Management try something novel and send him back to the AHL and teach him how to play defense, when to take offensive risks and when to think defense first? This is one incredibly taleneted player who has top end skills but who hasn't learned how to properly use them. While they are at it do the right thing and put Reilly back in junior where he belongs so he too can develop, gain confidence in his game, play in the World Juniors and ideally learn how to win. The Leafs have done so many good things in the last few years but player development is still an area they don't seem to think is important.

agree 100%

i think the D is carrying it too much.. freezing the breakout at the opposition blue line..

the forwards need to hold up too much

I was mad at Carlyle for not putting Kadri in the shootout. I guess after a frustrating loss it was easy to blame Randy.

id have taken kadri or kulemin before clarkson.

but clarkson isnt a bad choice.

- big_dion

if Im not mistaken, Clarkson is one of the best at shootouts on the team over his career no?

right on, thats exactly it.

we are so predictable right now, our breakout stinks, as does our possession in the o zone. we may be getting hits but were not winning the battles from the hits or after the hits. frusterating to watch right now
