Maybe his style isn't the problem. Maybe getting them to play his style is. Also he makes some pretty questionable decisions like not ever putting Kadri in the SO, and not calling timeouts when they are getting slaughtered. - Arctic_AARDVARK
Meh I'm not sure he has his lineup sorted out yet. And Bozak and Clarkson on the shoot out aren't bad choices.

The defence have not been doing what's expected of them, especially offensively. Even Rielly needs to get more points. Gardiner has been a massive disappointment so far and Fanson is even struggling. I have no idea what I'd do if I were Carlyle... But I hope he figures it out soon. - Arctic_AARDVARK
Rielly is on pace for 40 pts, can't expect much more from a 19 year old. |

it is, but are we playing with a lot of offensive pressure and shots? no.
we need to be playing right in the middle of where carlyle likes to play and where wilson likes to play.
good d, and some offense. |

Clarkson was.. And I don't care that he has a better % than Kadri. Kadri has way more skill and that Clarkson attempt was a joke. |

brought them to the finals. he did well up until last year, which was a weird season all around. also won a Cup with Carolina and even got the Isles to the playoffs. i just think that given the makeup of the Leafs (great forwards, lousy group of dmen in general, 2 rock solid goalie), the Leafs should be driving possession and playing less defence. |

It is a little comical that were discussing firing Carlyle no? I get that there needs to be some changes made, to either the systems being used for certain players, or the players need to be changed...but I think he's doing alright considering.
There has been a drop in stats, though.
Tied 5th in the Eastern
2nd overall PP
20th in PK
7th in blocked shots
2nd in hits
25th in FO%
1st in giveaways
What should be considered however is that with a healthy team these should round off a little more toward the positive. Save for giveaways...thats just a mess. |

It would be nice.. Laviolette may be a good coach but I've noticed some nights the flyers were great, and other nights not so great. Leafs aren't firing Carlyle anytime soon. |

Instead of entertaining the thought of trading Gardiner why don't Leafs' Management try something novel and send him back to the AHL and teach him how to play defense, when to take offensive risks and when to think defense first? This is one incredibly taleneted player who has top end skills but who hasn't learned how to properly use them. While they are at it do the right thing and put Reilly back in junior where he belongs so he too can develop, gain confidence in his game, play in the World Juniors and ideally learn how to win. The Leafs have done so many good things in the last few years but player development is still an area they don't seem to think is important. |
