He's one I haven't really kept my tabs on, how has he looked?

Why should Dion take a discount to stay with the Leafs? The cap is going up big time, he knows it. He should sign for $7m x 8 years because this is his time to cash in. Him taking anything under $6 is worse for him. He has about 3-4 years where he may even be worth $7 (to the Leafs) since he will be your #1 guy. But, after that Reilly will become your main minute muncher. Everyone knows it. If he takes a 3-4 year deal he has zero leverage in his next deal. Heck, he may get injured and not even get another deal after!

Dion's time for a big payday is now. From the Leafs or from another team. Problem for the Leafs is that they don't have anyone out there to replace him if he walks. It would set your team back significantly and by the time you recover on D, your F will be too old.

Too much relative to what? He deserves at least 6, which would be a absolute steal. I'm beginning to believe that Kule will be out by the deadline ( ), Franson too. We'll hang on to Gardiner and either bring in a guy by trading the aforementioned or go with someone already in the system.
- A_Tree

no.. i dont think he is worth that.. needs to produce more points to get that kind of money imo

my opinion.. thats all.

kuli is gone for sure.. he'll be too much to resign and we got a ton of guys who can do his job for less on the marlies.

gardiner should go.. rielly looks like he can handle himself which makes gardiner too expensive

franson at the deadline.. 100% i agree with this.

It all depends where the Leafs are in the standings, you want it to be trial by fire with Percy, Granberg, etc... Maybe for the best going forward.

Dion's worth 7m to just about every team in the league. Especially yours.

I am just saying that the people who expect him to take less are wishful thinking.

I understand Doz, but Franson leaving makes Gardiner relevant again. To "rid" ourselves of Phaneuf would throw us back years. In all seriousness, who do you replace him with???

I think Percy will get the long look, does everything well and rarely panics with the puck, might be a fit with Dion.
- LeafMan

Yes I like him too, but Granberg has shown he can play at a high level at the highest level. Big jump in speed and time to make decisions from AHL to NHL hopefully he does it

agree 100% with the bolded.

the core of this team is not that of a cup contender imo

why burden the team.. just reset a few pieces and try again

The #leafs led 11-9 in scoring chances after 40 minutes last night, according to their count. They didn't get any more after that.

Look no further than this as to how the Leafs play after they have a lead.
