Its not a bad deal. Im personally on the Yandle train. With the cap going up, that contract will be reasonable and last night showed me how desperately they need a guy who can skate the puck up, or transition creatively.

The closest thing to that player in the system is Ghost. As long as they are able to keep Coots/Voracek/Giroux, I look to make a deal.

The thought behind it was that it's a quick and easy deal, need for need and more or less a fair swap of players. Minimal salary cap implications, and no big player turnover. Basically the Flyers 6th defenseman for the Rangers 6th-or 7th-defenseman. Same age, both former first rounders, both out of favor to some extent.

I'd imagine the Rangers would want a forward back for Del Zotto. Dylan McIlrath is finally playing good hockey in the AHL & by accounts is knocking on the door for a call up so making a D for D swap isn't something they need to do if they moved him.

The rumor has been that the Rangers want a defenseman for Del Zotto. That's what led me to the idea.

Still could maybe one with more experience they ease Dylan McIlrath into NHL action with as little pressure as possible.

Need something from him since they passed on the likes of Cam Fowler, Brandon Gormley, Jaden Schwartz, Vladimir Tarasenko, Nick Bjugstad, & Beau Bennett

Yeah, the Rangers really do have a hit or miss track record in the first round. They seem to either get a good player or a stiff...

Really impressed with Josh Morrissey from what I've watched of him, think the Jets got a nice player in him.

Getting a short list for the 2014 draft but of course to land them would require most likely a top 10 pick.

Well Ekblad is one of them but he probably won't fall beyond #2

Roland McKeown (Kingston) puck moving & point producing D who needs work in his own end which is getting noticeably better.

Haydn Fleury (Red Deer) good is his own end, can also move the puck, & his beginning this year to assert himself more in the offensive zone.

Bryz is better off in a low pressure media environment. He was a horrible fit in Philly.

Yeah, Edmonton has no pressure...outside of the fact that it's a fishbowl. There's as much pressure there, if not more, than here.

Actually it has more to do with the organization liking to make big splashes in free agency, plus a lack of good FA defensemen.

I think the biggest relief of stress is the contract and its expectations.
