If I were him I would wait a few years to make a push for a GM job. Get out of the awful nuclear waste that was Darcy's shadow. - Stripes77
Hey you know with a new GM comes the need to make a splash I'm the draft and ufa day. I don't think I'm alone in my excitement for the summer to get here. |

Yea. But not really one with his resume. - Mentalorgasm5
I dont think that always translates to success in the NHL
Allot of it is finding a shared team vision who can also gather a good supporting cast around him. There are lots of successful scouts, GMs, coaches that start with average or even no resume. There are some who are just damn good at what they do too...I dont think Dudley is a bad GM but I dont care that hes not going to be ours as there are promising alternatives that we know of. |

I like watching McNabb lay hits every now and then...also like watching Pysyk make moves in his own zone and watching his development.

Aren't the bigger knocks on Edmonton their lack of Defense, their large amount of young players, etc? I don't see how the scout is such a key factor in them being so bad. It's not like he's making the pick, he's presenting information to the team. Sure, he may be trying to push certain players he's scouted, but no one knows the players that may be, I'd assume.
Just a meh move. I'm more bothered they did such a hire when there's no GM. Why add to the staff when the GM should be able to come in and do those hires. - stashu
You guys aren't looking back far enough on the Oilers to understand.
Prendergast hasn't been around for this rebuild. But he was a huge factor in why we had to do it and and why the cupboards were so bare that all of our young guys were automatically our top players.
During his tenure as head scout we had 2 out of 10 first round picks work out. And his time as assistant gm was bad as well.
That is why the Oilers needed to go full rebuild.
You look at teams like San Jose and others where they have new blood that they drafted in the first round added to their team seemingly every year. That's how you get depth. We've had absolutely zero depth. And that's why its taking a while to build it. Our d prospects are coming. They just take more time.
IMO its a terrible move to hire him.... |

Foligno still has trade value if it came to that point. But like it has been brought up numerous times here his last name is Foligno and he is soooooooooooo dreamy BLAH - Stripes77
Really. This guy should be sitting on the bench.IMO he has the most reason to want to be here.Who wouldn't want to skate in their own hometown with the same team you grew up watching ? Guy has zero reason not to be skating his ass off and hitting everything that moves.People rag on Kaleta but he gave his heart and soul and always acted like her wanted to play for the fans and the team. |

If all people wanted was hustle we should have kept Gerbe and thrown him on a line with Zem and ennis.. running around with no results. |

Dudley is far better at the role of "man behind the curtain". Plus, he tends to wear out his welcome way too quickly for my taste. I'd rather go in a complete different direction. - buffalofan19

Notice the coach in the background? Coaches don't get paid nor have any mandates to be there. He is there on his own. That is awesome |

I highly doubt it had anything to do with money. I wouldn't be surprised if he wanted to stay in Montreal and asked Patty to call to get permission to get some extra cash in his pocket |

This teams issue s are with an owner who hasn't a clue about running a sports franchise and his moves are getting worst in my opinion. |

Maybe he just didn't want to come to Buffalo. That's what it sounds like. Why take over a crappy team when you have a nice spot on the Canadiens management team. |

Ive said it once Ive said it a million times. Hockey players as a group do more charity work and are the most down to earth athletes on the planet.
Vanek went out of his way numerous times (my little cousin is a cancer survivor). He took him and his buddies to a game they had a sleep over in the players lounge. Vanek actually stayed until about 2 am.
The only other players that seem to do that sort of thing are kickers in football. Brian Moorman especially has don't a lot in this area at Roswell. |
