Yea why would we want a guy who built the Tampa cup team, and hand his hand print all over the first Chicago cup team?

Because there is more then 1 potential gm

Dudley is far better at the role of "man behind the curtain". Plus, he tends to wear out his welcome way too quickly for my taste. I'd rather go in a complete different direction.

I wandered over to the EDM blog to ask about the new scout we hired, the responses:

"Terrible"
"Beyond Terrible"
"Abysmal"
"You guys are effed."
"How does this guy still get work?"
"The reason EDM has sucked/the cupboards are bare."

Sounds promising...

- ImThatGuy

Aren't the bigger knocks on Edmonton their lack of Defense, their large amount of young players, etc? I don't see how the scout is such a key factor in them being so bad. It's not like he's making the pick, he's presenting information to the team. Sure, he may be trying to push certain players he's scouted, but no one knows the players that may be, I'd assume.

Just a meh move. I'm more bothered they did such a hire when there's no GM. Why add to the staff when the GM should be able to come in and do those hires.

I wonder why nobody in the media has mentioned him as a candidate? Maybe he knows better. Knows that this rebuild is going to take a while and he can earn himself a GM job one day when he hits on these draft picks? IDK but I think its odd that he hasn't been mentioned
- Stripes77

No need to mention him as a possible candidate, IMO, it should just be assumed.

Also what does it say about the guys THEY drafted? We have picks galore. We need to hit on those picks.
- Stripes77

I think we hit some serious homers this year. I believe we have two franchise defenseman, a Ryan Callahan type in Compher, solid top niners in Justin Bailey and Baptiste, a quality US goalie prospect who's performed very well so far this year (Miller was also drafted in the fifth, not that goalies are projected very well anyways) and I think we got two solid steals in Locke and Possler
Could be cool? Another draft like that picking up elite wing talent and we should be good to go.

Lets waive or send down all the players that make this team even close to watchable.

Brian FREAKIN Burke!
- TheSabresTaco

He's such a d!ck
But he's got a pretty proven track record
Everywhere he goes, team gets better

I think Dudley was the choice everyone would feel safe with

Other candidates (that we know of) are unproven for the most part
Who knows what role they had in making decisions previously? So it's kinda tough for me to like/dislike any of them more than the others

I agree this is just my little friendly jab at Silo who wants Benning. He mentions every move they make as a positive but the reasons they had to make those moves is because they didn't do their homework on the guys they were drafting. Of course its a two sided story. Silo really wants Benning I wouldn't be super pi$$ed about it but he isn't my first choice

This previous draft was great for us
Widely recognized as the best in the league, and by a good margin
Next two drafts will be just as important though

If I were him I would wait a few years to make a push for a GM job. Get out of the awful nuclear waste that was Darcy's shadow.

Yes WTF when you have unmotivated guys like Foligino taking up ice time ?Same type of player but Tropp at least works for his icetime.

The only thing that is going to make this team watchable is talent.

Hiring Devine as GM would be a PR disaster.

Foligno still has trade value if it came to that point. But like it has been brought up numerous times here his last name is Foligno and he is soooooooooooo dreamy BLAH
