This team does not draft poorly.
- JAKEw1234

Any 2nd thru 7th rd picks on the team? Any on Chicago and Boston? Duncan Keith, Patrice Bergeron, Milan Lucic, Marchand, Krejci, Saad, Shaw, and hjalmarsson to name a few.

At least Hartnell showed some spunk tonight. Obviously something was said to him.

guess I'll go watch Sopranos reruns and forget the Flyers for a bit.

Happy Thanksgiving all.

Yup.. the foul-weather fans and keyboard warriors come out in full force when there's a chance to gripe. Example: Braydon Coburn can have six straight good games -- and you don't hear a peep -- but as soon as he's part of a mix-up on a goal and the team loses, they resurface to say what a horrible player he is.

I prefer to think of it as growing a little old to the poop routine sold by Snider.

Sure, but we have more of our 1st round picks playing for us now than those teams, and that's without Laughton playing for us, seeing as he's very close to making the jump. Maybe we aren't the best team at drafting, but we're certainly not bad. We're just bad at drafting and developing Dmen. We've taken some promising steps towards fixing that problem in the past couple years, too.

Watching Fleury having a hissy fit in the tunnel after getting pulled just IMMEDIATELY made me feel nice after this poopshow.

Also, Malkin pitchforks the goalie into the net while he was in the butterfly then shovels the puck in. No call.

The flyers do well in the 1st round but don't respect the draft overall. That is why there is only 3 players on their roster that were drafted by the flyers excluding Downie who they traded. In the salary cap world, drafting is the most important aspect of any organization.

Tampa seems to be another one of those organizations with a clear philosophy to play fast with smart coaching. Keep things simple. Get pucks on net from all angles and battle hard. But speed speed speed throughout the organization.

Everyone turns over their rosters and we take the scraps.

With so many promising prospects in our farm, you can expect that number to rise drastically soon enough.

So many promising?

Laughton is no more than a 3rd liner
Hagg might be a scratch now in Swedens 2nd elite league
Morin is a ?
Ghostisbehre is a major ?

they also held toronto to ZERO shots in the third and came back from 3-5 to win it in the so. makes me sick to think what we have to put up with while those fraud fans get to watch that show

Just thinking a bit of what I miss from this team.

Two games come to mind.

Jason Smith, Hatch.

Ha, don't pin their NHL role before they even get here.
No one's guarenteed to get to the NHL, but our prospects who have a strong chance of doing so are:
Laughton
Morin
Leier
Vasiliev
Gostisbehere
Hagg
Alt
Straka
McGinn
Goulbourne
Cousins
Stolarz
Lauridsen

Sure, there aren't many there that have a chance at becoming elite talents, but that's pretty damn good prospect depth.

Ugly game. This is the one to vent about.

Flyers need to go back to Passing School. Then Shooting School. 12 shots through the first 2 periods? That's just embarrassing.

Coburn looked solid. Giroux was a ghost once again and seems to be doing his best to make people wonder if he's the guy to pin your franchise to for the next 8+ years.

Simmonds + Penalty Shot =

You don't know any better than anybody else. Why be down on them before they are even on the team?

Might be a bit of a problem when your top line has sucked for 2 years now, needs a push from somewhere and you have plenty of 2nd and 3rd line forwards locked into long term deals. There's no answer for the top line and it wont be found in free agency.

Goulborne, Straka?!

I know that Laughtons numbers arent as good as M Richards OHL numbers. But they'll lock him and he'll be the next Captain in 2 years time

I don't call producing at a point per game pace last season sucking. I don't call playing poorly for 15 games this season and then picking it up sucking. Right now our 3RD LINE is pushing our 1st line, seeing as Read-Coots-Downie has been one of the hottest lines in the whole league recently. Coots should challenge our 1st line spot as he develops, and Brayden Schenn should, too. Straka might be a bit iffy, but remember that he's a very skilled 2nd round pick. And Ghoul won't be an impact player, but he has a strong chance of making the NHL as a 4th line agitation/energy guys.

Yeah, I don't think he's going to be an offensive wizard or anything like that, but I'm hoping he brings grit and a solid two-way game. He's also apparently pretty good and a threat to score while on the PK, and we haven't had that since Richards left. And I miss that.

I just want to see him play, see what he's got, then go from there.
