He is not. Which is fine, but you have to pay players accordingly. Not just focus so much on the flash and potential.

Which is why I am okay with keeping say the Schenn brothers long term. Just dont pay them to be more than they are, or put them in positions they arent good enough to be in. Jut for an example.

Thats an excellent point. Luke is obviously overpaid, but he may be a viable 3rd pairing type of guy. I'm hoping B Schenn can turn into a poor man's Dustin Brown. It seems like any negotiation the player has the Flyers by the balls, bc they can say, well you gave player X this money and term, where is mine?

this team SUCKS

Just to make a reference to your sharks.

Core: Joe, Marleau, Pavelski, Couture, Burns, Hertl, Dan Boyle, Vlasic, Stuart

Compare that to the Flyers. It shouldnt be a shock that this team is, what it is.

Another perfect example is Coots. The kid is an amazing shutdown 3rd center.

I cringe at the idea of what kind of extension they will give him because of "potential". He is loved now, but just watch what will happen when they overpay him.

That pressure will go sky high, and yet another player is put into a position they arent meant to be in.

Jagr provided this team an example of professional work ethic. This team doesn't have any. Guys show up to camp out of shape and take periods and sometimes whole games off. This is the laziest team I can remember.

Honestly? Can you blame them to a degree?

I would be laughing at this point any time Snider came down to yell at them. Which he has done every year for a while now.

Couturier is currently the cheapest top 9 forward on the team and is set up to be that for the next two years. Is it a shock he is one of the few forwards who show up every night.

JJ just said "Jay Rosehill, playing in his 100th NHL game tonight..."

To which instinctively said "Yeah should be his (frank)in 0th" and my brother laughed til his sides fell off

I dont know to be honest.

I think they show up most nights. They just are what they are. Too many secondary pieces, and not enough go-to-guys.

The pieces expected to carry the team are too streaky to begin with. This is ignoring the defense, which I dont even want to look at.

I just want a fresh face, even if its Hextall. I dont trust the player evaluation. To not overhype guys, and overpay. Put players into positions they are destined to fail.

Yes I can blame them because they are professional athletes. They are getting paid millions and should actual want to win. There is a culture of losing in the room. Look at Boston, if you aren't willing to work and be apart of the team like Kessel and Seguin, your gone. You don't get the Holmgren drive around the block like he did with Carter and Richards or the scaring post game talking to.

I just spent the last hour doing some errands instead of watching the game.

I see I made the correct choice.

Follow up the trainwreck in Florida with this horsepoop.

One goal in 6 periods against old man fish, and poopback is pathetic

Agree to disagree. No worries here.

I see them as trying to turn a farmer into a rockstar. They are what they are imo. Based on talent. Good example of that is team speed. You can yell at a guy like Luke Schenn to skate faster, but its not going to happen.

Coots is a perfect example of a guy the Flyers will overpay drastically if they keep him ... and who will blossom into a 20 goal scorer if they trade him.

either way we're screwed.

Whats Lindback.....87%? 3.5 GAA? 1-5?

There could be a Thanksgiving spread in Tampas locker room during intermission and they'd still run circles around us.

I agree that team lacks talent and even if they worked their butts off, they are a fringe playoff team at best. But there is still no excuse for a lack of effort. When this team had talent with Richards and Carter they would still take nights off and seem disinterested in it.

A bigger issue here is the inability, with all the money available, and an attractive city to play in, to ice a full line-up of NHL caliber players.

Over the last few years the team has employed guys like Nodl, Walker, Pyorala, an aging Knuble, Lilja, Raffl, Foster, Gervais, Shelley, Rosehill and Rinaldo.

I absolutely refuse to fall for the notion that a team doesnt lose b/c of the 4th liners. That is only loses games b/c of the star players.

In today's league every player matters. Holmgren has filled out the lower ranks of this team from the garbage dump too often. Its hurt them, and especially this year with that 4th line. No excuse for that.

Everyone matters. Just ask Shaw in Chicago, Moen in Montreal, etc.

True enough. Look back at those teams though. Every member of that apparent league of poon was sent packing. Carter, Richards, Lupul, Upshall, etc.
