Shockingly enough we disagree again... Marty is not going to retire and this will get worse. - niteislander
Wow never thought of that. |

Well that's because you're the guy that's always happy with top 5 picks. After watching the way our prospects are being developed and how they're handled I'm not as enthusiastic as I once was. - Cptmjl
If you're not going to make the playoffs then hope for a top 5 pick... the higher the better.
Common sense... right. |

I am finding it hard to believe he will be resigned. He will demand 8 million a year for a while and we know how this team operates. - mighty13duck
Nabby 3.2 mill
PMB 2.0
Regin 750k
(those are all gone next year.. 6 mill right there)
Any of these could be moved to create more room.. :
Grabner 3.0 mill
Vis 4.75..
Bailey 3.3
Clutterbuck 2.75

Yeah but we still need more defense and another goalie. |

A lack of faith in this team winning will be a bigger factor than money. Keeping Cappy is not doing the Isles any favors in keeping Vanek. - ses111
Hopefully Cappy is gone soon.
The defence is in shambles... which isn't his fault, but his time is up.
We knew the defence was going to be sh@t. That's why keeping Streit was debated.
Even though most people didn't want him... we have no depth.
Then add in the injures... worst thing to happen to this team.
Along with the old Nabby back... bad season. |

Hopefully Cappy is replaced before the season is lost. Isles seem to like waiting until all hope is lost before replacing the coach. If they show they are trying to improve now, it may go a long way in keeping Vanek. I had no problem letting Streit go. I could have lived with no more than a two year deal as a last resort. Team have to be ready to handle injuries. I cannot give pass for injuries. Nabby should also have been a last resort. |

lets assume this is true...the availability isnt the issue; its the willingness to spend. - LetsGoIsles
But that means the floor goes up too, so they'll have no choice. |

I hope you are right. We always think the floor going up means the Isles have to spend and they always manage to make the floor with guys like Regin and PMB. Isles having guys like Strome and Reinhart will help in getting to the floor as well. |

Instead of worrying about getting out of last place, this team is worried about jerseys and a game two months away. - ses111
Yeah, except the marketing department has nothing to do with getting them out of last place. So the rest of the franchise should shut down because the team is in last? I'm pretty sure that JT wasn't the one who wrote and sent the e-mail. |

Arthur Staple @StapeNewsday 2h
Hickey in, Ness in, Martinek out. McDonald and Boulton out among forwards. Poulin in goal for #Isles. - Vukota
Wow. McDonald goes from the second line to the press box. Nice to see Regin and PMB still getting the ice time they've earned. |

I wouldn't put Stamkos Getzlaf and Perry ahead of him because whereas each of those have different skillsets that make them special, JT has a little of all of their skillsets. He's a better OVERALL player. I'd probably rank him #3 or 4
*Edit, though I noticed Malkin isn't on this list - keaner17
Personally, not a big fan of Malkin. Respect his talent but hate to give him credit. Besides he's surrounded by tons of talent while JT is... well you know.
I guess I'm not alone. TSN ranks him #70 |

Agreed. I have JT above Toews Kane and Malkin. Ovi Stamkos and Crosby are the only forwards above him imo. |

Staple says that Nelson will be on the fourth line with Cizikas and Martin so I guess that means Bouchard will be on the second line. I really think Cappy is trying to get himself fired. At this point, that's the only excuse I can think of. |

They should Move Cal to the fourth and Nelson should be centering the third line with Regin scratched. |

It's still about perception. You cannot sit back and wait for the season to be lost before taking action. Do you really think a lot of Isles fan care about the jerseys or this game right now? |

I'm sure there are plenty. Sure there are a couple dozen of us diehards that hang around here talking hockey all year long, but there are probably thousands of casual fans that are interested in that stuff. I agree that the hockey operations side of things need to do a ton more regarding this team but again, you can't shut down the whole operation because the team is in last place. If anything that's when your marketing and sales departments needs to work the hardest. I bought a family four pack about three years ago and because of that I still get calls from the sales dept. about buying tickets. I don't female dog about it and I get it. They have a job to do. Do you really believe that Garth Snow and Capuano are sitting around designing and marketing jerseys? There's plenty to female dog about when it comes to this team but really. |
