Irrelevent. I can quote crap too. The Sens cap hit is $56M and the Habs hit is $66M. Sens average age is 26 and the Habs average is 28. The overrated Sens have yet to be beaten this year by the Habs. Deal with it!

Wait, being ahead in the standings is irrelevant in hockey? Cool! So they're playing for something more abstract, then? Like posterity, or general goodwill?

I think Subban can make Team Canada, but it's not a 100 % guarantee. Karlsson will have an easier time making Team Sweden. Habs need to re-sign Subban for sure.

Subban should make it, no doubt. but sometimes, the people running the Olympic team overthink the selection process. that's how you end up with Rob Zamuner and Bryan McCabe taking up roster spots.

Weber-Doughty
Keith-Subban
Pietrangelo-Bouwmeester

Seabrook

That'd be my defense.

I do!

Want me to trot out excuses for it the way you're all crying poor now? Because I won't. The better team won. The better team last year.

We'll see where the chips fall at the end of the year. The sens can fix their defensive woes and turn things around. Tough schedule to start the year and some underachieving players, but I have every confidence we'll be in the playoff picture.

People seem to think that they give the cup out in November?

I don't think anybody thinks that, and I'm quite certain that nobody here is saying that. The argument, before it got derailed by partisan posturing, is that the Sens have, thus far, shown themselves to be overrated in the context of some experts' lofty expectations of them.

Said posturing was then exacerbated by a lot of anti-Subban trolling rooted in the manufactured narrative of his defensive shortcomings, and the myth that he's a bad teammate. And that's not to say that he isn't brash or cocky, but non-Habs fans seem convinced that Subban is the one human being on this Earth incapable of growth or personal evolution.

So, you know, typical anonymous Internet message board poop.

It's so cute when Montreal and Ottawa fans band together to chirp the leafs. It's like two rival gangs putting aside their differences to bring down a fortune 500 company for the greater good of miserable Canadians everywhere.

Ottawa's only problem this year has been shoddy defense. Like atrocious defense. Karlsson and Methot have been good, but everybody else has been horrendous. Our offense is top 10, and our goaltenders both have been pretty decent (Lehner is 0.938 in 11 GP).

Call it an excuse, but our October schedule to start the year was pretty wild: SJ x2, ANA x2, LA, CHI, PHX and 8/12 games on the road isn't an easy way to start a season- they just really haven't been able to shake off a rough start.

As someone else said though, I think most realistic sens fans were looking at a late playoff spot as opposed to a division title. I think they're in good shape to be there, with the really tough games and road trips in their schedule out of the way.
