Tanking this year makes no sense regardless. We should be trying to get as high in the standings as we can even if we are out of the playoff picture. As far as the next few years, I still don't think we should tank. I think tanking can set a dangerous precedent for the organization. No free agent will sign with us and having a losing mentality can be tough to break. We have plenty of talented young defensemen ready to step in over the next 4 years and hopefully a cornerstone in net with Schneids. We don't need a bunch of 1st overalls to rebuild, a few talented young forwards for sure but we'll be building from the net out. For every Blackhawks and Pittsburgh team that build through lottery picks there are teams like Boston, LA, and St Louis who's top players are mostly mid-late first rounders.

As for the Ryder/Brunner situation, I think the problem is actually on the LW. I know they both have been playing terrible and it shouldn't excuse that, but Henrique and Zajac both have 8 points, just like Ryder and Brunner has 7. Our 2nd and 3rd lines simply do not create enough chances. If you look at our 2nd and 3rd line wingers throughout the season its been combinations of Tedenby, Josefson, Ryder, Brunner, Henrique, and Olesz. The one thing they have in common is that none of them produce on the left. I'd like to see us make a move for Fleishmann and go with:

Fleishmann-Zajac-Jagr
Clowe-Elias-Brunner
Zubrus-Henrique-Ryder
Carter-Lokti-Bernier

I threw Clowe in because he's supposedly skating again but if he never comes back then move elias to the wing, bump lokti and Henrique up and throw JJ or gio in.

I don't mind adding Fleishmann, I actually think he would be a pretty solid pick up, but he isn't exactly what we need. We need a sniper, a guy like Gaborik or Cammalleri would be my preference. I think Brunner needs to go. Defensively he is a mess even if he figured out the offensive game. I think Pete is going to go back to CBGB when we get a healthy line up and I would be in favour of that.

I agree with you, don't see why we need to keep taking on panthers tho. Brunner should be centering jagr and zuburus. that's my solution if that doesn't w work just waive him.

Gelinas looks great so far

Merril looks nervous around the boards hopefully he gets over that after a couple shifts. Everyone is looking pretty good. Bernier buddy you got to shoot that !

Fleischman sounds good in theory but isn't worth that many more goals.

Actually if Lokti could play wing, he should theoretically be pretty good at scoring goals. He's a bad center because he has no 2-way game and can't buy any assists. That he plays center in this league baffles me.

But pick your heads up... things aren't that bad. Getting outshot by San Jose is pretty standard. In case you haven't notice, they've been outshooting everyone they're playing. And thank heavens Clowe is injured.

Brunner needs to get way better, but learning the defensive system is likely tricky for him.

Jagr needs to be better in our zone, missed coverage on goal and had a bad giveaway. Thought we looked good early, but need to get some goals badly.

Making Pavelec look like a vezina candidate like we do to every goalie cause of our low percentage scoring chances and when we get good ones we just can't help but shoot it straight into the crest of the goalie.

I missed last game what happened to Larsson or has he fallen victim to the shady injury bug that's been going around this franchise when we want to sit guys but not make it look bad on them.
