Here's hoping they get some better analysts on Sportsnet. Now that they've signed the big deal, they better pay the big bucks to bring in someone worth listening to.
I better not have to listen to Kypreos and Doug Mclean at intermissions for the next 12 years.
Maybe some TSN guys will get poached. They should get Mike Johnson from TSN. Out of all the ex-players that have become analysts over the last decade, he is by far the best. |

Extremely dissapointing to see TSN get the boot. I feel like there will be a big shift in talent over to Sportsnet as well. Sad day. |

X2.
They need to bring Bob, Duthie, Ward and the Dutch also. Ward also speaks french, so if he switches, I'd gladly take him at TVA Sports instead of freaking Enrico Ciccone |

I cant believe TSN is out. I loved the coverage when I would stay in hotels up there. Its a big win for Rogers that Im not a fan of. My understanding is their deal with the Bills was about increasing brand strength on its sports side and competing with other sports carriers. I guess it worked.
I also understand Rogers will have "creative control" of Hockey night in Canada on CBC. Not happy about that at all. CBC's hockey night in Canada was world class. |

5.2 billion....would this not count to the increase in the Salary Cap? wholly crap...thats what 434million a year or about 15million to each team per year ?? great, that will keep the sunbelt teams alive for 12more seasons |

I think they'll probably leave HNIC alone. Like you said, it's a pretty tightly run ship as it is. Rogers has enough on their plate now without having to worry about how another competent broadcaster handles it's games. |

There is NO doubt you will see talent move over to Sportsnet. Right now Sportsnet have just enough guys to cover the Sens, Leafs and the western teams. Now that they have national broadcasting rights, they are going to have more games, and need more talent to broadcast these games. Now, with this CBC deal, it's very possible that we could see the CBC talent take on some of these games. But I think it's be a big mistake for the TSN guys not to pursue this opportunity. I'd miss Gord Miller and Chris Cuthbert making calls. They have made so many great calls in their career. |

If they get rid of Don Cherry and Kipper from their respective stations this is a good move. Otherwise, it's moot. |

That's terrible news. I know the NBC group and NHL net will get all the games covered, but its just better on CBC. I was searching for an installed to put an antenna on my roof so I could get the HD feed directly. Im probably still going to do it so I get the other Canadian channels and such. |

To be clear: The NHL's deal is NOT with Rogers, CBC & TVA... The NHL's deal is strictly with Rogers, who subcontracted content to CBC & TVA
In a nutshell, the CBC was given a piece of the pie by Rogers to appease the NHL because Rogers at this time does not have a National presence. This was important to the NHL |

I wonder if it has to do with ESPN being out of hockey in the states? I cant see how TSN will survive just showing highlights at night. |

I watched hockey highlights on TSN last night, they showed highlights of all the games with indepth analysis on......the Leafs game. Then they ran the story about 10 players filing a lawsuit against the NHL, and the main focus of the story was...... the two former Maple Leafs. All they ever cared about was the Leafs, I am not a Leaf fan, so TSN losing broadcast rights is no big deal to me. I do hope a couple of their personnel defect though, they do have some good hockey minds there. Or at least better than Kypreos. |
