Thanks Philco.......still not out of the woods yet. It will be a few days before I can speak.....hopefully by Thanksgiving but that may be pushing it. At least I won't have to engage my 88 year old grandma in a conversation about reproductive system....have to look at the positives! Thanks for the thoughts

Like it or not, much of the best contemporary American poetry is being expressed via hip-hop.

You mean such classics as, "I'm gonna knock you out, momma say knock you out?"

Welcome back US...missed you around here the last couple of days...I refuse to engage in arguments about tastes in food, music, women, etc..everyone is different...there is nobody on the face of the earth that could change my tastes so why bother...again, welcome back..

Bummer! I thought my idea was good because, while it would be a bad trade, it's actually plausible. Back to the drawing board...

back in the 80s, I figured that run DMC would have their little run and then rap would die after a few years just like disco did. God was I ever wrong.
- Q...argh

I have no problem with Hip-hop as a whole. I grew up in the era of RUN DMC and the other Rap pioneers, and I liked a lot of it. I still like some of it (not nearly as much), but in general I'm no longer much of a fan of rap.

Kanye is crap

The stuff where they played bongo's, tamborines or whatever and recited bad poetry in cadence.

If Saad keeps up this level of play, how much of a realistic shot does he have at a 3rd or 4th line role for team USA? Or maybe even playing on a line with Kane? Is there any chance? just curious at what others think.

I grew up with blues, R&B, rock-'n'-roll, and some country: I understood them, the relationships between them, where they were going. Great music. Still dominate my iPod.

I did NOT grow up with hip-hop, rap, etc. I do NOT understand them, how they relate to other music, etc. I do NOT like them.

But I will never say the form cannot be good music (recognizing that 90% of everything is crap), and that is because I don't understand hip-hop.

Of course, Miley Cyrus is crap.

I'm a bit odd on that end. Primarily stuff like Priest, Sabbath, Queensrychhe, Megadeth, old Alice Cooper, Pink FLoyd, Airplane, the Nuge (70's style), but I also like blues, zydeco, Motown, Johnny Cash. I've even been known to listen to Wagner and Beethoven.

It's not as if I'm some snob who thinks every genre that isn't my favorite sucks. I don't like pop, but I won't knock people for liking it, since even bubble gum crap is music and a matter of taste. Rap ISN'T music IMO. More of performance art like the old beatnik coffee houses had.

To each his own, but I just wanna puke when I hear people call Kanye West a genius.

Now 5-3.

Never played goal, but I don't understand why - with the puck on a sharp angle, the goalie can't cover completely the short side? Ellis has given up 2 short-side goals that should have been covered.

While I was sick In the hospital I was watching Led Zeppelin "Celebration Day".....I like a lot of independent singer songwriter/XRT stuff but Zeppelin is my all time favorite...it was awesome! When it was over I turned on the American Music Awards and I have no idea who the artist was or what the song title was........in the end the brief one minute exposure to whatever crap it was set my recovery back a couple of days. Pop music today is terrible.....
