Kind of like a tallest midget award saying the coverage has never been "this good" in the past. I find myself wanting more info all the time, and unless im watching NHL network, or sitting at my computer, i cant find anything hockey related to watch.
- BlazinMike

My statement was based on games televised....That has never been greater and in general either has the overall coverage.

Between the NHL network and NHL radio there is a lot of coverage.

But mainstream media can improve and will eventually.

The new Canadian deal is 8 times more then the old TSN deal.5.2 billion over 12 years is 7 million per team a year.
- eagle50

I assume you $7MM per team per year is after the players' 50% share.

I think that is why the Hawks had part of their training camp at Notre Dame. That was to put the seed in his mind as to what kind of organization he can look forward to being a part of.
- rtang415

I sure hope so. I've been looking forward to seeing this kid play in the Hawks organisation since watching him play for the US under-18's national team.

Amen to that if youre correct. Im skeptical though, its nice to see the occasional NHL Extra game on CSN here and there but seeing as how there are games on EVERY NIGHT, there should be somewhere for people to watch. I already pay extra to have NHL Network, theres no way im shelling out for gameday or center ice, just cant afford it.

I really hope he puts pen to paper for that entry-level deal at the end of his college season.

Certainly don't want him pulling a Justin Schultz and loopholing his way elsewhere. Though I don't see why he would choose another organisation besides the Hawks, it's still a worst case possibility I've thought about.

- prd797

Can that even happen under the current CBA? I thought the signing window was extended or something.

if you were a rookie dman - would you want to come to the Hawks? You most likely sit in the minors for a few years. the Hawks are at least 8 deep and their top 6 are pretty solid for this year and next year. Depends if you want ice time in the nhl asap.
- Topshelf2010

Kostka and Brookbank are gone probably next year. Rosi is a part timer.

Johns would be at the top of the D prospects list. Probably ahead of Clendening.

D'agostini could be a decent PK fill in. Probably no chance though with our cap situation.

No I think that is before, so it is basically a 3.5 million cap increase.

Good as always, Al, BUT:

You don't give Kane enough credit on his goal: not just a rebound goal.

Kane went into the pile - didn't "hack-'n'-whack" at the puck, but calmly pulled it back to a free zone, and patiently and calmly put it into the net.

I think that's as good a goal as you'll see in this league - just amazing presence, control, calmness - like he was seeing it in slow motion (as someone said last nite).

- StLBravesFan

What a joy it is to watch Kane. The growth in his game from year to year is overlooked. He is dangerous any time he has the puck on his stick.

Can anyone explain to me how the no talent ass clown that is Kanye West is a multi- millionaire?

Kanye is incredibly talented. He's a pretentious dbag, but he's incredibly talented.

This surprises me. He was definitely a top 6 defender when the Hawks played the Yotes in the playoffs. Can't imagine he'll be without a contract for too long unless he's totally lost it

Agreed. If he's being waived, it's probably because the Pens intend to send him down. If the Pens intend on sending him to the minors, why would he fit in Chicago?

I'll agree with the ideas of Brookbank probably being gone and Roszival being closer to the #7 defenseman in the platoon on the 3rd paring next season.

As for Kostka, who knows where that ends up? If he can come back and give the Hawks some decent play this season, he might be in the mix to stick around.

As for Johns being the top defensive prospect , again, that remains to be seen. I'd still think that Dahlbeck, followed closely by Clendening would be the top two defensive prospects on the depth chart at this point.

Is Gameday the same as the Center Ice package?

I have Center Ice, and the only blackouts I see are either Hawks games (locally televised) or NHLNet / NBC televised.

- StLBravesFan

Center Ice I believe is television subscription, and Gameday is the web streaming package.... One problem is that since I no longer live in the Chicago area, I don't get the games that are on WGN, since their national feed ("WGN America") operates under the assumption that a much larger percentage of their audience would rather watch reruns of America's Funniest Home Videos, which is most likely correct, but it sucks for me.

But I'm still in the Midwest USA, so Hawks, Blues and Wild games are all blacked out by NHL Gameday. Though there are always ways to get creative and pick up a feed, it really irks me that they don't just provide a package that works for fans. I of course understand why they can't, because that would involve the industry mitigating its greed a little bit, which obviously isn't going to happen.
