Why? He's one of my favorites. He couldn't possibly annoy you more than Kimye?

Can anyone explain to me how the no talent ass clown that is Kanye West is a multi- millionaire?

Good as always, Al, BUT:

You don't give Kane enough credit on his goal: not just a rebound goal.

Kane went into the pile - didn't "hack-'n'-whack" at the puck, but calmly pulled it back to a free zone, and patiently and calmly put it into the net.

I think that's as good a goal as you'll see in this league - just amazing presence, control, calmness - like he was seeing it in slow motion (as someone said last nite).

- StLBravesFan

Yep, and the very fact that he was at the front of the net (and has been a lot more the last 2 years) is a great sign that little Patty "gets it" now. Maybe it's Edzo rubbing off on him...."all you young hockey players out there, if you want to score goals...."

The list of entertainers that you could ask that question about is endless.

As is a similar list of sports figures.

I usually buy what you're selling on this thread, but not this time. Go back and watch the replay. Kesler could not have cared less about the puck. He suckered Oduya into that penalty. I grew up watching Mikita and the only thing I didn't like was when he would take a dive. I just don't respect that kind of effort.
- 6628

Even if he embellished (I don't think he did), Johnny gave him the opportunity to do so by making a stupid, illegal hit. Bottom line, no hit...no penalty. It's all on Oduya.

Yeah, but Kanye is an extreme example. Very extreme.

Even a guy on a 4 year $750K contract should be able to live well on a quarter mil a year and bank $2M over the course of that time. These guys feel entitled to live like rock stars for life.
- Q...argh

That 750K is about 375K after the tax man and the agent get their cuts. So, if the live well on the 250K, that would leave 125K to bank. Or about 500K over that four year contract. Not saying I feel bad for them - they are doing what they want - but such inaccuracy kinda takes away from your point.

I wish Oduya would have skated right up to him and pushed him slightly with one finger. Same result. Oduya is a puss, not going to run anybody like that. I have heard a lot about Kesler and finally zoomed in and watched him especially. And I gotta say they were right. I guess we will have to disagree, but all the best for the holidays just the same.

I'd love to hear what Paul Stewart would say about it. He's the only ref in recent times to have played in the show. And he does call it like he sees it.

I didn't highlight him today and you are correct. But really has been that way for awhile the last two years.

I will give him some love soon, when deserved but thought Saad and Keith needed some stars last night. Saad gets better and better and will be a beats in 2/3 years.

I will shine my own nose as the 1st time I saw Kane I was very impressed and have been saying for 4/5 years he is the best perimeter player in the NHL....

What has made him better and will get him in the HOF is now he goes to the net and has the hands and the nose for the puck to score more goals.

I'm listening to 590 Toronto, and they're talking about this new blockbuster Rogers Communications TV deal, saying that this could well remove all blackout restrictions in Canada.

What does this import for the current TV situation in the US? Any ideas? I would probably buy the NHL Gameday package if it weren't for those monstrously idiotic blackouts.

Great write-up. Not to mention that Kaner is also battling for the puck much more assertively, and while he probably won't ever become the consummate 2-way player (Hossa et al), he's playing the best all-around hockey of his life.

And Saad has definitely arrived, clearly becoming a "core" player...

Is Gameday the same as the Center Ice package?

I have Center Ice, and the only blackouts I see are either Hawks games (locally televised) or NHLNet / NBC televised.

US is set for awhile and the sport has never been covered as thoroughly.

Kind of like a tallest midget award saying the coverage has never been "this good" in the past. I find myself wanting more info all the time, and unless im watching NHL network, or sitting at my computer, i cant find anything hockey related to watch.

I live in an in between market in southeast Virginia. When the Caps play and it's on the NHL Network I have to go to MASN to watch it as the NHL feed is blacked out. There are times when the NHL feed is blacked out when the Caps are tape delayed because of a Wizard game. I gave up NHL Center Ice and use Hockey Streams.com. It's cheaper and I can watch all the AHL and Junior League games as well. I use the I-pad and Apple TV and put it on the big screen in HD. No difference in quality if you have a decent broadband internet.

And the league knew this wad coming several years ago - and, I'm sure, prepared for it as much as possible. And - rediculous player contracts aside - these are not stupid business people - they know how to protect themselves.

The game will change: looking ahead 10 years, you'll see fighting eliminated, stick-on-ice checking, full face shield (like in college, which will, in itself, reduce fighting dramatically), etc. You may not like it, but the game - and its popularity - will survive nicely: it's grown nicely from the 50s, with its frequent bench-clearing brawls, no head or face protection, no rules about hits to the head - to now - it will grow nicely into the future.

You'll also get one more thing: owner-initiated study after study about making the game safer, which go nowhere. But you will see my predictions in the preceding paragraph.

I predict....

- StLBravesFan

In other words, the game will be "sissified" into pillow hockey?

I can see fighting eliminated by the rule book but not full face shields. Top players want to market themselves.

I really hope he puts pen to paper for that entry-level deal at the end of his college season.

Certainly don't want him pulling a Justin Schultz and loopholing his way elsewhere. Though I don't see why he would choose another organisation besides the Hawks, it's still a worst case possibility I've thought about.

I think that is why the Hawks had part of their training camp at Notre Dame. That was to put the seed in his mind as to what kind of organization he can look forward to being a part of.

if you were a rookie dman - would you want to come to the Hawks? You most likely sit in the minors for a few years. the Hawks are at least 8 deep and their top 6 are pretty solid for this year and next year. Depends if you want ice time in the nhl asap.

We ALL have to pay taxes. Why would you assume I didn't provide for that?

Point taken on the banking part, though. A stupid omission on my part.
