And then along come a rag tag bunch of has beens, money blowing, pension blowing assssssssssssssss hoooooooooooooooooooooooooles
to launch a suit saying they were victims and made to play with 'concussion symptoms.'

Any legal ruling awarding this motley crue of SCHEMING TWATS could upset the NHL monetary applecart in a bad way.

Sad, feel bad for those guys to an extent, but the reality is most of them blew all their money and now need recourse.

Wait until there is a health epidemic from Baseball players doing steroids in the turn your head era of the 90s and 00s.

Everyone is a victim Phil. Even though though there were 1000s of guys willing to give their left nuts for the dream and glory of playing in nhl.

I thought the same thing as you when I saw that yesterday.

Lets sue the NHL for our heart problems from being a fan over the course of out lifetime. All the added stress...

And the league knew this wad coming several years ago - and, I'm sure, prepared for it as much as possible. And - rediculous player contracts aside - these are not stupid business people - they know how to protect themselves.

The game will change: looking ahead 10 years, you'll see fighting eliminated, stick-on-ice checking, full face shield (like in college, which will, in itself, reduce fighting dramatically), etc. You may not like it, but the game - and its popularity - will survive nicely: it's grown nicely from the 50s, with its frequent bench-clearing brawls, no head or face protection, no rules about hits to the head - to now - it will grow nicely into the future.

You'll also get one more thing: owner-initiated study after study about making the game safer, which go nowhere. But you will see my predictions in the preceding paragraph.

I predict....

When I saw him last season sitting on an opponent's chest and pinning the guy's arms down with his knees while savagely pounding on the helpless guy's face while the linesman stood there watching, I lost any interest in him as a hockey player.

The NHL isn't the UFC.

Lawsuit will not gain traction because there isn't enough plaintiffs. Matt Barnaby discussed the lawsuit yesterday on the NHL Radio. Most of the players knew that there could be ramifications if they fought. The only way the NHL can lose a case like this is if they withheld information about concussions. I am under the impression that the NHL has no where the amount of money dedicated to research like the NFL.

I am suing the IHSA because I hurt my toe playing football Sophomore year. I still limp on it, especially when it's cold out. You know, if I hadn't had to play both ways, getting tackled as a half back every other play on offense, and then, had to play middle linebacker when I weighed 170 pounds I might have not sustained a lifelong injury. Oh wait... I loved playing football. It was my choice to play hurt on that toe, and I don't regret it. Never mind. I'm dropping the suit. Right? I mean f these guys. Victims, every damn one of them. They were plenty happy to be victimized when it was happening, but now, choices they made for themselves are somehow somebody else's fault. Yep, sounds like the modern American Dream to me.

Don't know if he knew this five years ago, but I'm betting he knew this when he was resigning CC, Bickel, and Hjalmarsson.

Even a guy on a 4 year $750K contract should be able to live well on a quarter mil a year and bank $2M over the course of that time. These guys feel entitled to live like rock stars for life.

I did not see this in red text. Who knows what SB knows? but lets make it a fact. One - it doesn't help us this year unless he renews a contract during the season where the player in kind plays totally awesome. Two, Hjammer took a huge hometown discount. And it doesn't take in to effect that crappy Khabby contract.

One, wasn't in red text because it was meant as a serious comment.

Two, didn't say it was a fact: said "I'm betting". Still am.

Three, doesn't have to help this year: has to help in two years, when Toews and Kane begin their new contracts. Or even next year, when the new CC and Hjammer contracts take effect.

Four, Hjammers' discount and Khabby's contract are not relevant.

My point was, the league and the teams know almost precisely where the caps are going for the next couple of years, and have known since the lock-out ended. Not a fact: I'm betting.

Agree, except the face shield. Modern America/world is all about feigning outrage and concern. Many fail to see the inherent risks we all take when waking up in the morning. It is a fact of life. Many people, CHOOSE to take certain risks for their potential gain. Seems some want to outlaw that too. Not a shot at you, just my 2 cents on it. You are spot on though, the game will always survive and be fine.

Like he NFL and MLB the goal of this is not to win some award playing gotcha for these guys. It is about the old players being able to tap into the current revenue streams to improve their health benefits and maybe pensions, due to disabilities. At some point, they will agree upon a number and it will fund this new entitlement program.

After last night, i am a True and firm believer in Jeremy Morin. That move he made around the defender to pass to Saad for the goal was AMAZING. Holy poop, and then there were a couple other times where he created something all by himself. I was very impressed. I think i saw what True Grit and multiple others have been talking about regarding him. I like what i see.

And Saad is pretty good too.

He's damn amazing. Just wait until he has a few years of experience under his belt. If I'm Stan I do whatever it takes to keep Saad for the long term, this kid is a keeper. Stan needs to re-sign Saad before he becomes an RFA, somebody will sign him to an offer sheet.

Good as always, Al, BUT:

You don't give Kane enough credit on his goal: not just a rebound goal.

Kane went into the pile - didn't "hack-'n'-whack" at the puck, but calmly pulled it back to a free zone, and patiently and calmly put it into the net.

I think that's as good a goal as you'll see in this league - just amazing presence, control, calmness - like he was seeing it in slow motion (as someone said last nite).

I usually buy what you're selling on this thread, but not this time. Go back and watch the replay. Kesler could not have cared less about the puck. He suckered Oduya into that penalty. I grew up watching Mikita and the only thing I didn't like was when he would take a dive. I just don't respect that kind of effort.

Can anyone explain to me how the no talent ass clown that is Kanye West is a multi- millionaire?
