Does anyone remember what preceded the 9 second outburst? It was a great power play. Does anyone remember what gave the Hawks the PP, it was either Morin or BB, can't remember, who took puck 1 on 3 made a move to net, and drew the penalty.

I thought it was Brookbank who did that...

No need Tanger. These guys are alright. Love the game as much as we do and like to engage in a good discussion about it.

Nah, these guys are ok. Besides I was mixing it up a bit with them on their thread last night...you know, for old times sake

Now if that Canuck fan Clown From Schaumburg shows up (he never does after a loss ) that's a different story.

- Ogilthorpe2

Nicely done BTW Ogi. I saw some fine work.

Maybe. But I think Smith has found his niche on the 4th line.

When the roster is healthy a 4th line of Handzus, Kruger and Smith will be pretty damn solid. The 4th line now is pretty good with Bollig instead of Handzus.

- DarthKane

Handzus centering the 5th line is ideal for the team.

Move smith up and put Mills on 4th if healthy.

Smith is playing fine where he is, and will be responsible and productive anywhere you play him. By year end people will see him as a huge depth asset.

Morin got chewed out on that penalty draw for not getting up and hustling back on the back check.

Smith has been playing well and Pirri has played within the system which is good to see. They also seem to be doing it on a consistent basis which Q has said that is what he looks for.
- rtang415

So far, Pirri has been pretty damn solid in his own end. He is competing hard along the walls. Still needs to get stronger. And would really benefit from an off season spent with a power skating coach.

He's been really solid for a rookie Centre. Too bad he and Kaner couldn't finish that 2 on 1 they had last night. Pirri's pass was just slightly off the mark interrupting Kane's timing a bit. I bet if they switched spots (Kane passing to Pirri) that's in the back of the net.

unfortunately, i counted about 3 breaks that pirri gaffed on. either by getting saucer eyes and fumbling the puck, missing the pass, or blowing a tire on the rush

Agreed Ogi. He has the offensive game at this level. Last night I thought he was pretty damn good in his own end. In the Jet game, I saw that kid initiate contact at least 3 times with Buff. He bounced off like most everyone, but it showed me a lot about the kid.

Great read Al, as always. I agree about Smith, he's been playing well and getting better. Last night he was even 5 for 7 on face offs in addition to his 17+ minutes.

Regardless of what happens with Handzus I think Smith has earned his spot on this team. The 4RW spot is Smith's and it's nice to see him doing more effective on the PK. When the roster is fully healthy Morin will be the odd man out, barring a miraculous turnaround in his performance.

- DarthKane

Smith's versatility helps a lot.

Pretty evenly played game played last night IMO. Difference was obviously Crawford's play and the Canucks yet again struggling to finish on their chances. Kind of sad that these teams will play less games against each other from now on though.

I agree about Smith. Very hard working, and definitely a depth asset. But I still think a reasonably healthy Zeus can help out in brief spurts, in spots. He's still a very smart hockey player who shows an occasional knack for being at the right place at the right time to make something happen, even if he no longer possesses NHL-caliber speed and athleticism.

I like seeing everyone at least twice, but will definitely miss seeing the Canucks as often as years past. It truly is a special kind of hate

Kudos to the Hawks strength and conditioning coach for going from 8 minute abs to 7 minute abs during the off season training. It has allowed the Hawks go from a 17 second team to a 9 second team.
- TrueGrit

Yeah but if he was better and went to those 6 minute abs we could have done it in 4 seconds there's something about mary is still one of the funniest movies

Totally agree but he will improve greatly this year by playing better competition
His game has already improved just give him playing time to allow his natural talents to continue to progress
The best way to improve is to play better comitition
