Created a 2 on 1 the other way and 2 seconds later bang in the net. The natives are not happy with Trotz.

Hockey is a team game. You cannot overuse your top players at the expense of a reserve on a consistent game - by game basis without putting tired legs out on the ice late in the season! Coach Q is a proven winner but this does not mean that he makes a mistake in judgment in the case of Morin.

By now Q has Morin's attention: in the threads here it misreported, that Morin even went to his captain and asked what he has to do to get Q's attention and henceforth more playing time.

Here we have a proven offensive player and a player willing to compete for the puck in the checking and board battles. Yes, Morin has nothing more to prove in the AHL. Even in his brief NHL moments Morin has shown the smarts and ability to suggest he could produce some points at the NHL level. And now Morin has the Pirri example as a great motivator!

Pirri set an example by showing the reward for doing - or at least attempting - to do things Q wants to see in his game. So play Morin more, see if he responds, Q. What is your excuse not to do so, coach Q? Let someone make a big stink and call you out, Q; we need to hear your explanation.

As paying fans we deserve an answer. Someone in media, please ask Q! We have something of potential value ready to take the next step, but Q chooses to let Morin waste away.

I could understand Q reluctance with players who have shown weakness in their game, or are needing experience. But now it is Morin's time. While you are having perhaps a"Miller" (beer) time relaxing on a day off, coach Q, consider anew more "Morin time."

Morin's game is not going to improve sitting in the press box or at the end of the bench. I say give the kid a chance especially with the Hawks playing Brookbank out of position.

I would appreciate the initial evaluation of both Simpson and Carruth after they have played a few more games. Do you see NHL ability, albeit young goaltenders needing professional experience before they would ever be considered for an NHL look?

Please duly note that I am well aware that these "green" youngsters are not a desirable alternative now. We hope Raanta will be sufficient, or perhaps a Karlsson type is acquired on the cheap later this season. Wasn't Karlsson the netminder who came over from Calgary?

Also just curious if our TT correspondent or anyone has seen a couple former Blackhawk picks playing in Sweden. I read where Jonathan Carlson was getting 13 TOI as a third pair in the top league. Also, loved the game Birch showed in a rookies camp and his accolades, reliance/usage as a shutdown at Cornell is worth notation. Could those two be developing over in Sweden? Just the eternal search for prospects interest here, as for years the Pulford regime drafted poorly. Mike Smith wasn't good and Tallon's draft table resume was spotty.

Oh whatever happened to the great E Sanipass? And Lecuyer could shoot from either side. The great Yaremchuk? Upchuck over poor drafting over the years. At least Bowman appears to make some good choices.

Although a Johns needs AHL time and perhaps TT will need a breaking in period - of - time. Some nice looking prospects could have a role in Chg among those developing now at Rockford.

The Hawks are so used to being able to out skate anybody that they have serious problems with the two teams (Edmonton and Colorado) who can keep up with them.

Am I the only person thrown off by the Circus trip changing this year? I keep thinking, OK, Vancouver done, San Jose next.

- NewToHockey

When you look at the next four its a bit different than what we're used to seeing - the San Jose/Anaheim/La stretch of the trip...instead its Edm/Calgary/Dallas/and then Phoenix.

Great pace to the game last night. And Craw was stellar - still hoping we see Raanta for a couple of games on this trip to give him a break. On to Edmonton.

Great read Al, as always. I agree about Smith, he's been playing well and getting better. Last night he was even 5 for 7 on face offs in addition to his 17+ minutes.

Regardless of what happens with Handzus I think Smith has earned his spot on this team. The 4RW spot is Smith's and it's nice to see him doing more effective on the PK. When the roster is fully healthy Morin will be the odd man out, barring a miraculous turnaround in his performance.

Ha you sound like you are a parent talking about your sons hockey team and coach. If the Q doesn't think Morin should play as much or should sit than he sits. This isn't amateur hour were everybody plays and gets a trophy. Who would you sit off the current line up to play Morin?? Morin is a professional hockey player and he is making a lot of money when is up with the hawks on the ice or in the press box so I don't feel sorry that his playing time is low and he can't get through to Q.

So? Canucks fans are obviously also still fans of "elbowing canucks" as Edler and Kesler seem to try to injure people every other shift.

Kesler seems to think his after the whistle BS is going to get Toews off his game. Edler's slash and elbow to Toews were another attempt by him to injure a player (like he did to Staal). All it does is make the captain play harder.

I just wish the Hawks could put someone out with Toews to respond to this cheap stuff in the regular season. One of these criminals is going to end up putting him out of action. Bickell is not enough and there just seems to be no one else when he is out.

Kudos to the Hawks strength and conditioning coach for going from 8 minute abs to 7 minute abs during the off season training. It has allowed the Hawks go from a 17 second team to a 9 second team.

If Q wants to continue the yo yo with third line, then move Smith there and tweak the 4th. Smith can play effectively (even if in spurts as needed) on any line.

I'll feel sorry for them when their team stops playing like dirt bags. Loved some of the hits Seabrook was throwing last night in response.

What are they paying Burrows for no goals and 5 slashes a night? Their bottom 6 has 4 guys who wouldn't make our roster. Their core looks worn out already - wait til 1 year of Torts is over.

Prediction: Next year Gilis gets canned and the entire roster gets as much of makeover as possible. Burrows and the Sedins stay (NMCs and Burrows is untradeable). Kesler will be gone. Maybe Edler sooner.

Does anyone remember what preceded the 9 second outburst? It was a great power play. Does anyone remember what gave the Hawks the PP, it was either Morin or BB, can't remember, who took puck 1 on 3 made a move to net, and drew the penalty.

Maybe. But I think Smith has found his niche on the 4th line.

When the roster is healthy a 4th line of Handzus, Kruger and Smith will be pretty damn solid. The 4th line now is pretty good with Bollig instead of Handzus.

Morin had a solid game.

Ben Smith made some outstanding plays. Q is starting to float him up from the 4th line more and I hope that continues.

Smith has been playing well and Pirri has played within the system which is good to see. They also seem to be doing it on a consistent basis which Q has said that is what he looks for.
