Well as far as the Olympic team, unless injuries wto spots are set...Luongo and Price.
...And Mike Smith might be playing better than anyone.... - Al
Crawford was always a long shot at best. Price is playing pretty well too. IMO the starting spot is his to lose. |

Just hasn't posted in a few days. Maybe he injured himself banging his head off the wall during the trade Seabrook day. |

#Blackhawks lines: Sharp-Toews-Saad, Handzus-Pirri-Kane, Versteeg-Shaw-Morin, Bollig-Kruger-Smith. Hossa expected back in Calgary. - Glenman12
It's good to have Zeus back. We'll see where he ends up when Hossa comes back. I'd still go with this:
Sharp - Toews - Hossa
Saad - Pirri - Kane
Shaw - Kruger - Versteeg
Bollig - Handzus - Smith |

He's still mourning the loss of Rostislav Olesz. I think he may have flown to Switzerland to watch him in person. |

A big part is all the suite payments go into a subsidiary like company and are not counted in team revenue....Said so today in Forbes article.
I see you saw same and that is a ton of $$$ - Al
At any rate, pro sports teams are valued on their enterprise value, not the income/dividend they produce for owners each year.
So long as teams cash flow, then owners are primarily happy as franchise value grows.
Set up a pro forma of expenses each team has in common and you can get something comparatively. But this is by and large a chasing your tail exercise when each team/ownership group will/can shift cost centers around for any number of legitimate reasons based upon their circumstances.
If the average fan thinks that owners go to the cash counting room each night and scrape off 10k for personal consumption, they are crazy. Not accusing anyone here, but the concepts of Cash Flow and Profit are not clearly understood by many people.
Many wealthy people pledge their assets to secure a credit line (muliti million dollars often) to finance the operations of a team or many other businesses, which employ millions of people, but are considered evil capitalist organizations. |

It is nuts - for any deal that would be remotely possible.
But - IF Montreal said Subban for Keith, straight up - wouldn't you at least have to consider it? - StLBravesFan
Is Subban worth worth 2 million more than Keith? Because he's going to get 7 million starting next year. His coach doesn't even play him when they have a lead late in the third. Plus he's a bad teammate (last playoffs screaming at Paccioretty). I'd much rather trade Duncs (I wouldn't) for OEL or Pietrangelo. |

Franchise value is a big factor but there are many teams that lose more $$$ in the bottom line than franchise value grows.
When you see Hawks valued at over $600 mill that includes 50% of the UC.

Your love for Handzus is never ending..... - TrueGrit
I just like him on the 4th line and in a PK role. I admit I don't think he should play every game, but he still has some gas left in the tank.
When the roster is fully healthy I would go with this:
Sharp - Toews - Hossa
Saad - Pirri - Kane
Bickell - Shaw - Versteeg
Bollig/Handzus - Kruger - Smith

The answer ot the 1st question is no but Keith would be making the same now if he didn't sign a very very long term deal. |

With Rose out for the Bulls now doesn't the Hawks' share of the UC's value go to 100% |

You're correct, but the reality is he did, that's why I wouldn't trade him for anybody. Also adding a defenseman who plays a totally different style would have possible negative implications |

If a player remains a contributor, most deals DO get better for the team, and worse for the player: caps go up, salaries go up, contract remains the same.
But the player got the security of a long-term deal.
Scottie Pippen never understood that: he would sign a long-term deal wanting security, and then be pissed when the newer contracts were for much more.
Jordan did: as much as you can criticize him for lots of off-court things, he never complained about a contract - even the first long-term contract that had him badly under-paid by the end. |

If he can't come back from this one, probably one of the two best players in Chicago sports to have a career-debilitating knee injury: Gale Sayers the second one.
Of course, Willy Galimore had the ultimate career ending injury - maybe as much talent as Sayers. |

No, this is alright. One player down and the basketball team goes to poop. The NBA sucks.

Jordan also had deals with Nike and others that were worth around $100 million. Scottie never smelled a whiff of that kind of money. |
