Right on! Now we've moved on from trading Seabs to now trading DK. - Beaver-Warrior
Why do you want to trade me? What did I do? I work hard in practice, I play sound defensively and the Ice Crew loves me! |

That's the problem in a nutshell. I've heard whispers from Upstairs that they feel you're a bit too close to the Ice Crew. |

You know how you can be sure if it is a dive or not? Tell the guy putting his stick in the back of the numbers of another player two feet from the boards not to do it.
Do you guys blame the old lady too once she gets mugged for being an easy target?
You won a game against us.none of us care , grow up and get ready for your next opponent. - VANTEL
If you're going to get upset about the Oduya hit, you also should at least MENTION the bad cross check on Toews at the net: just as bad.
Be fair.... |

I wasn't,t upset by anything at the game. I thought it was entertaining and we lost as usual. You guys have a big hate on still for the Canucks and we could care less. We don't have a rival we are just happy if we make the playoffs. |

For a true rivalry, both teams need to be good. But I will keep the hate...it keeps me warm. |

The problem I have with that call on Oduya is that that play happens alot in the game, where guys are hit in the back at the boards. MOST players do not fall from that hit, especially if they put themselves in position to get hit, like Kesler did. He knew he was going to get hit, but went down too easy. That part of the game needs to stop. - powerenforcer
Vancouver already has the reputation for diving to draw the penalty by turning their back to the player and falling as soon as they feel contact
The league needs to give unsportsmanlike penalties when this happens since the rule is a good one for player protection IMO |

If the league wants to get rid of diving and embellishment make the penalty a double minor. You'll see most of it stop pretty fast. |

Forbes.com - list of NHL team values:
Toronto - 1,150 MM
NY Rangers
Montreal
Vancouver
Chicago - $625 MM
Chicago Revenues - 115 MM, 4th in league
Chicago Operating Margin (EBITDA) - $25.6 MM, 4th in league
The list shows that Chicago has no debt - which seems to mean that all debt is due to other Wirtz enterprises, none to outsiders.
It doesn't say, but presumably (but only presumably), these figures do not include UC profits, nor Comcast Chicago profits.
But assuming these numbers are not wildly off, please, Mr. Wirtz, stop talking about the team still showing losses: if you mean losses, INCLUDING loan pay-backs to your sister companies, than say so.

It is nuts - for any deal that would be remotely possible.
But - IF Montreal said Subban for Keith, straight up - wouldn't you at least have to consider it? |

UPON FURTHER REVIEW:
Forbes says that the figures for the Hawks DO include 50% of the profits from the joint venture that owns the UC.
The article says that when Wirtz gives out figures, he does not include suite revenues, which go to the UC joint venture, not to the Blackhawks.
Which means: he is also screwing the NHLPA - as the reported HRR would not include the suite revenues. |

if they legitimately lent the money, and they are legitimately paying back those loans, then that is a valid expense and indeed the loss is valid.

Loan repayments are not an expense: they are a cash flow item.
If Wirtz would say, we have negative cash flow because we are paying back loans to our affiliate, then OK - I have no problem with that.
But (if this is what he means) when he says he is losing money, and it's because he is paying back the loans, that's not the same thing.
It's more than just accounting semantics: if you're losing money in an accounting sense, at some point you have to borrow more money. If you're losing cash because you're paying back loans, but are making money in an accounting sense, at some point your loans will be paid off and you'll be generating cash.
Again, if this is what Wirtz means, he is also using currently generated money to pay off previous years' losses. But presumably, he is making money in current years. |

One more from the Forbes report: no hockey player is on the Forbes list of the 100 highest - paid athletes, including both salary and outside income.
Crosby is close at about $16MM.
But going down the list of best-paid hockey players (and no Hawk is in the top 10), they really make very little from outside income: Crosby gets several million, Stamkos gets $1.7MM, I don't think anyone else gets over $1MM. |

What will Subban's cap hit be? I'd bet the house that he gets over $5.5mil a year and that he doesn't (because he can't) get a contract as long as Keith. Keith at $5.5mil, basically forever, is a pretty solid deal if he continues to play at this level. |

There is a HUGE hi risk factor to Subban's game compared to Keith's game. I understand what you mean but we know Keith fits in the Hawks structure we have no idea if the more mercurial Subban would.

In regards to people saying Kesler dove...really? Try being a fan of hockey, not just of the Blackhawks. He didn't dive. Get over it. |

I would consider it Saint, but in the end I would stay with Keith. It wouldn't be an easy decision though. In the end it comes down to two factors for me. Cap hit and just a weird feeling that PK's game lends itself to a major injury. I hope it doesn't happen for him. I like watching him play. |
