They didn't just happen Pards. Sedin blind sided Keith with a shoulder to the head long after the puck was gone. Carter took a viscous slash at Keith's hand that just happened to miss breaking his hand. Dirty? Not really. A serious RED ASS. Definitely. - Elbows15
Stupidly retaliatory - stupid retaliations.
Got suspended for both - one in the WCF.
Dirty? No, not dirty, but needs to control himself - or disguise things better.
EDIT TO ADD: Except for that, and the shin-pad issue, his game is terrific. |

He was provoked in each of those instances. He didn't start them, but he finished them! - reeder16
No - the league suspension office finished them. Has to be smarter. |

Nice write-up, as usual. The Nucks do seem to have a different style under Tortorella, with a more aggressive forechecking emphasis or something rather than just flying down the ice, and he's giving his marquee players a lot of (too much?) ice time... - Tugboat
He is a good coach but it is almost in possible to go deep in the playoffs with only one line that can score.
Reminds a little of the situation Torts was in with the Rangers.

He defers to Kane - he's looking around for Kane in the rush, almost like he's afraid NOT to pass it to him - I've noticed it several times.
He needs to begin believing that he belongs and start making hockey decisions, not deferring to the star. - StLBravesFan
Well said. Hard to believe with a shot like his he doesn't at least try to sell it more often. On the 2 on 1, where he made the pass over to 88, the needed the pass to be better but, if he drops the shoulder and sells the shot it forces the hand of Louongo. Too eager to get it to Kaner
Needs to believe in himself...... it'll come |

I don't think he meant to hit Carter as high as he did.
I have noticed that neither Sedin or Carter has touched Keith since. He handled each situation himself and set a tone that he wouldn't take that garbage. He didn't wait for the league to settle it. I have no problem with it, myself |

No, don't think he did try to hit Carter that high: he went to him after the hit to see if he was ok - Carter lying on the ice - and the ref pushed him away.
My main problem us that he was suspended for a play-off game.
With Sedin - wasn't Sedin concussed and missed time? That's bad, no matter the provocation, and no matter who the player is - you don't do dangerous hits like that.
But it's done - two (?) years ago - time for Canuck fans to move on (which, apparently, they haven't). |

Mostly NHL, except when it's play by play of two teams I could care less about...then mostly music on Lithium, Alt Nation, or Spectrum. |

Really think the call should have been 5 and a game, not a 1g suspension after the fact.
It probably has to do with the fact Rosi stepped up so well in Duncs absence that I feel this way about it. He might need to disguise it better, like you said.
I should disclose that I'm biased. My buddy is Duncs brother in law and I usually have to stick up for him when we have this argument with Canuck fans in our town. He got it pretty bad when the Sedin incident happened and didn't like to talk about it. I think we are the only 2 hawks fans in our town |

I'm not saying they didn't deserve it, but Keith deserved to get suspended. I personally think he was provoked, but he did retaliate in a dirty manner IMO. But I love Duncs, wouldn't trade him for any D-man in the league - rollpards19
Yep, he deserved whatever punishment he got. |

The Fourth Period is reporting that (as the the Ottawa Sun) the Blackhawks inquired about Rene Bourque when they ultimately acquired Versteeg.
If this is true I'm super happy that Stan went with Verbeauty.

Over the years the Ottawa Sun has never had one correct rumor of a trade that went down...Can say the same for the 4th period as well.
I will say this there is no way on earth Bowman would have paid $3.3 mill for Bourque...Not to mention he is only a left wing and is 31 yrs old.

NHL, Lithium, liquid metal, and college sports. Mainly the first two. I used to listen to the Score but I suddenly realized I hated most of the people on their except Lawrence Holmes. |

I was looking at our upcoming draft picks and we have 2 extra picks in 2014 (4th and 5th) plus an extra pick in 2015 (6th, possibly turns to a 5th).
The 6th in 2015 turns to a 5th if Carcillo plays a certain number of games for the Kings. Does anyone know what that number is? Carcillo is on pace for 75+ games. |

Eli...can you comment on how Leblanc is doing in Rockford?
He's on a one way contract next year but I'm not sure about his waiver status. Given our depth I just don't see a spot for him year next year. Assuming Smith is re-signed the only real vacancy could be Bollig's spot and I wouldn't be surprised to see him re-upped as well.
Could Morin and/Leblanc be dealt at the draft? |

Keith really is amazing with his stick and gap control. His hockey I.Q. Is off the charts. He makes so many subtle passes and plays, especially 5-on-5. I am confused at why it doesn't translate on the pp more? As to his suspensions: I don't think another Hawk player, maybe Toews, is targeted more. It is a great strategy. I wish the Hawks would do it more. But you just reach a point where u get sick of It. Especially all the dirty hits he gets. I also think the vancouver rivalry lost some steam. It is still intense but not the same. St. Louis is the big one now. Colorado is catching up, too |

All media figures have become bigger than the game. Can't stand the Sunday night football crowd. Chris Collinsworth and the douche Costas with all his pontificating.
I love my XmSerious radio, like the morning guys. The HNIC radio afternoon show is a love fest between all the hosts etc. Often, they are half informed on situations they offer their expert advice on.
It is a continuation of the Hey everyone look at me syndrome that carries the day.
Well said everyone on your takes. - TrueGrit
He does like his soapbox, but IMO, he's simply using the high profile platform he's earned during his legendary career.
For my $$$$, Bob Costas is the FINEST SPORTSCASTER in my 45 years on this planet.
