Two 24 hour sports stations in Toronto, FAN590 and TSN1050 are both Maple Leaf centric. You get the odd blurb about other teams but otherwise you would think the Leafs are a prime cup contender.
- paulr

I also think that Sirius XM uses shows from those stations on their NHL channel.

Rosi is a skilled veteran who can be alternately good and bad. He has his games or moments. I am concerned if his skating slows down. But perhaps the many injuries career long he suffers makes it ever the more difficult coming back strong. So in a long season, no doubt Q hoping Rosi can be solid for a playoff stretch. More like, the playoffs itself and not the playoff stretch. The Blackhawks make the playoffs with or without Rosi as a meaningful regular season contributor. Should Rosi not be up to par in playoffs, then he should seriously be let go (if possible if his contract has one year remaining). He is near retirement.

I would like Dahlback to get some NHL time insofar as in the playoffs teams need to be deep on their blueline. Dahlback should get a taste and an idea or feel for the NHL game. His style seemingly would be a good fit. Looking for a safe, reliable third pair depth dman?

FYI: due to injuries Tallon has recalled D Olsen.

Rozsival was a major reason the Hawks won the Cup. He goes nowhere this year.

Q took 8 dmen when camp broke for a reason....

Not only do they not talk hockey up, Hanley who used to cover the Hawks for the Sun Times, only talks about how the Hawks sucked when he covered them, how bad Orville and Alpo were as coaches and how bad Dollar Bill was as owner. If he does talk about the current team at 5:30 in the AM it's always in a snarky way.

All media figures have become bigger than the game. Can't stand the Sunday night football crowd. Chris Collinsworth and the douche Costas with all his pontificating.

I love my XmSerious radio, like the morning guys. The HNIC radio afternoon show is a love fest between all the hosts etc. Often, they are half informed on situations they offer their expert advice on.

It is a continuation of the Hey everyone look at me syndrome that carries the day.

Well said everyone on your takes.

Not one to female dog about the refs all the time but, they had a tough night last night. The call on Shaw to put them down 2 men (How'd that look on TV?), the initial call on Oduya was a classic dive by 17; No way he should be pushed down that easily and there was one of the most egregious (sp?) too many men calls Ive ever seen.
- reeder16

The one on Shaw? On the replay I saw. A solid 9.5 from the Swedish judge.

The real funny thing Tanger? Its the truth. They are dirty especially with their stick work. And they so don't get the irony of calling Keith a dirty player.

To me, when a team is already short one, I'd think it would take a little more. Did you see the too many men missed call? 6 Canucks all defending in their zone. Anyway, I sat next to a season tickets holder who had just been to Chicago to watch the game against the Sens. He said the momentum created by the fans in the building propelled the Hawks comeback that night, after Khabby dug them into that hole. He said it was one of the coolest things he's ever been a part of. Have to make it to the MADHOUSE one of these days

there were several pics posted of it in the last thread. Better part of a minute too.

Yes, you do reeder. If for no other reason but to watch a game with your fellow Hawk fans.

Anyone know if Hossa's personal situation is been resolved? Hope everything is okay for him and his family. I was looking forward to watch him in person.

And Canuck fans think there is a conspiracy against their team
The closest thing was a trip to Phoenix for the playoffs a couple years ago. Tons of tomahawkS down there.

Obviously you never visit the Leaf thread. Most are pretty funny and good fans. There is a faction that believes the league is out to get them because they are so financially successful and harbor resentment because of it.

Keith is like the weirdest dirty player ever. The whack to Carter and the elbow to Sedin were both dirty plays, we'd be so mad if those happened to one of our studs. But then I don't think I've ever seen him do anything else dirty ever. He actually avoids contact pretty consistently, then those two things just happened.

They didn't just happen Pards. Sedin blind sided Keith with a shoulder to the head long after the puck was gone. Carter took a viscous slash at Keith's hand that just happened to miss breaking his hand. Dirty? Not really. A serious RED ASS. Definitely.

No. I try to stay out of "THE CENTRE OF THE UNIVERSE" They sure do print money in T.O. But I think John Feruson Jr deserves a lot of credit for the last ten years of Leaf futility

I'm not saying they didn't deserve it, but Keith deserved to get suspended. I personally think he was provoked, but he did retaliate in a dirty manner IMO. But I love Duncs, wouldn't trade him for any D-man in the league

Hey Rolly, watching Keith live last night was a thing of beauty. The way he covers ground, closes gaps, takes space away is Lidstrom-like,without the size. Such a good stick. He stripped the puck or deflected passes so often without even touching opposing players. Very gentlemanly, Just don't piss him off

Nice write-up, as usual. The Nucks do seem to have a different style under Tortorella, with a more aggressive forechecking emphasis or something rather than just flying down the ice, and he's giving his marquee players a lot of (too much?) ice time...

He was the best skater on the ice for sure. My favorite play was he followed a Nuck forward into the zone, denying a quick regroup, then backed off so quickly and was the last man back in the blink of an eye, and forced a Canuck dump in right at center which the Hawks were able to turn in to a chance the other way. It was an amazing display of hockey IQ and skating.

He's choked the creativity from their offence (mostly defenseman jumping in) except for 22,33 and 17. He's going to have played the wheels off those guys by the new year. No way they make the playoffs with that lineup

Ben Smith makes a nice do or die play, which is the difference in the game, and that is your take on the whole game for Stanton?

I know he takes a lot of grief on the thread for all the shots directly into the shinpads, but he's out there with 4 forwards. He's counted on to cover in case there's a turnover because he covers so much ground so quickly. One of the true studs in the league

That directive wouldn't surprise me..for Bears, Bulls, and baseball they have an "expert" who comes on on a certain day of the week at a certain time, sometimes more than one..they have nothing like that for hockey..
- Glenman12

Can't do it during the day - no one understands enough hockey to get able to intelligently talk about it.

They'd spend the whole interview making snide comments, double entendres, and giving their uninformed opinions about the problem with the game.

Hey guys, a little late here but, went to the game last night at the Rog. Just a few observations:
It sure seems Q. wants to find out if he can trust Krug's line to be a shut down line, especially in important situations. They were excellent last night, Smith was pulling double duty. Pirri seems to force it to Kaner a little too much.
Faceoffs have really improved; Smith and Shaw were Solid in addition to Kruger. Easily Crow's best of the season. Stellar all night and almost had the rebound save on the 5 on 3. For a guy who's 207lbs Kesler gets manhandled all over the ice.... I have a suspicion he might be acting a little in hopes to draw a call If that guy would just play hockey and cut out all the after the whistle bullpoop he'd be much more effective. Toews just laughs at the guy and shakes his head

- reeder16

He defers to Kane - he's looking around for Kane in the rush, almost like he's afraid NOT to pass it to him - I've noticed it several times.

He needs to begin believing that he belongs and start making hockey decisions, not deferring to the star.
