I think Arco should be in over Acton. I'm not sure why they don't swap those two out. - doon

Despite the loss, they played very well their last game against CHI (considering how bad they were playing against everyone else). |

no,no,no.
this isn't atom hockey where keith acton is favouring his kid.
there's no such thing as a man standing behind a curtain trying to screw over the oilers.
the refs aren't biased and trying to make whatever your fav team is lose either.
agree with them or not, Eakins is putting the lineup that he feels gives him the best chance to win on any given night. |

So just to be clear, your point here is that the winning of games had nothing to do with Dubnyk posting a .940+ save percentage, nothing to do with changes to the PP, nothing to do with David Perron exploding for points or Yak coming back to life, BUT was instead due to the change of Arcobello out and Acton in?
That is you assertion? That it couldn't POSSIBLY be purely coincidental that Acton's re-insertion into the lineup just happened to come when the rest of the team started playing better?
Is that your original point that I have so shamelessly avoided? - Matt_Henderson
Wow you have made up a lot of assumptions and just like went off into some tangent that this wasn't even about. Pretty sure I did state earlier that Acton is part of the "team" that is currently winning right now. The word team being key there. My original question was about you thinking you know better than the Oilers management and that they made a mistake playing acton over arco. Given the fact they are winning with the line up they have decided to go with, I was curious if you were able to admit that you were wrong in suggesting the Oil made a mistake playing acton over arco, because this so far has clearly not been a mistake. |

Not about points, so much, but more about moving the puck to where it's suppose to be. With the forwards or in the opposing teams end. |

Did I say anything about refs? Or any other factors?
Besides everybody knows the reason oilers lose is because we don't make sacrifices to appease the wrath of the hockey gods. |

He hasn't actually been a liability in his own end since returning. I chalk it up to playing weaker teams and him being fresh so we'll see if he can keep it up against Chicago. He seemed like he was taking steps towards improvement so it's nice to see him not lose that progress! |

I love my Oilers & really like my Hockeybuzz, but this new pop-up ad at the bottom of the screen is driving me nuts. I usually visit here on my smartphone, numerous times a day. That ad for twitter & facebook is driving me away from the site. It takes up so much real estate from my screen, there's barely enough clear space left to read the blog. Yccccch.
Still, there's lots of competing hockey blog websites. My loss. |

I guess if the purpose of an Oilers message board is to squabble over the most minuscule of Points, then the merits of who is more deserving of the 4C spot when we're actually winning is most certainly appropriate. In other words, who really gives a rats ass, let's keep everything the same until we have a loss worth criticizing . Shouldn't be too long from now. |

Arco is another smallish forward most of us agree is all too common on this team. I think has proven he should be in the NHL....just maybe no longer on this team! It would be sad to have the Fock-up Fairy visit them again and have a rash of injuries and they need him once again. But wouldn't it make sense to try and bolster the defense via trade using him as bait? |

Not necessarily and there haven't been any yet. While more forwards may mean less defensive awareness, it also means more speed to get back with. - MaximumBone
I doubt you guys would do 5 forwards on a 5 on 4, that would be stupid. 5 on 3 I'm sure it would be fine. They turn it over at the blue line, they aren't catching up 9/10 times. |
