Hard to argue that point....
- Cooshie

not many players can thrive under every system.. most are tailored for a certain type.

one guy will thrive in a puck possession system and be absolutely horrid in a trapping system

Fraser is very badly needed? Are you serious? The guy can't even skate fluidly right now. I can't remember which goal when he played over the weekend was 100% caused by the fact he couldn't keep up with who he was covering... and I believe the guy he was covering was like 34 years old and known as a poor skater at best... and he lost him in 2 seconds.

Don't get me wrong, I like Fraser.. Like his style, determination and grit... But we need someone who can keep up and he can't. I'm all for guys who play like him, but they have to be more effective than him

Remains to be seen. I think he's SLOWLY rounding to form and by the mid point int he season people will be happy he's around.

He's got a good mean streak and can lay a hit when he wants to, and with further focus on his own zone could be a good pairing for one of our PMD's

BUT.. I could also be wrong, and this may be as good as he will get, and then you are 100% correct that he is AHL worthy at best

nah, disagree.. in a high tempo offense system where the play is pressing the opposition defense he's great.. but when he has to allow the play to develop in front of him it takes away his biggest asset which is skating.
- Dozzer

Even a pressing team has the puck come back eventually.

Doesn't matter what kind of offence you have if the puck is turned over and headed back on 2 on 1's constantly

He's ALWAYS looking to go on the O instead of letting it happen. I actually though he was getting better and hope last night was just a speed bump.

Fack, needed those 2 points, Caps will be another tough game.

Ranger looked like Lidstrom compared to Gardiner last night, were we watching the same game? The (frank)er got caught out of position twice a shift
- Garnie

Idk what game you seen but Ranger had the most turnovers last night in the game and lacked any physical play. Randy didn't up Gardiners ice time last night cause he was playing bad he would of had less if he was sucking like you are saying.

Meh, Ranger barely played in the 1st 1/2 of the game and Gardiner barely played D

Think what you want.

Because the Leafs have too many offensive guys, and Rielly is the worst one defensively by far. Fraser is very badly needed. If they had two of him, I'd play them both.

oh yeah! I saw the other day they were laughing that some guy on HF was posting about some Leafs fan including Mason Raymond in a trade for Chris Tanev. Said something like "Raymond, Kulemin, and a pick/prospect for Tanev". Then laughs at that.

Really? I wouldn't trade Kulemin OR a pick/prospect straight up for Tanev. Who the hell wants their depth junk????? in fairness it was one of their posters who has a tendency to be "over-optimistic" about his own team.

- prock

Tanev has been playing at a second pairing d-man level this year at the age of 23, last time I check defensemen's value and trade value is always at a premium, wingers might be the least valued position in trades. I'd take Tanev over Kulemin all day and I bet a lot of GM's would as well. Raymond was useless here, he's another tweener and we have plenty of those(Higgins/Hansen/Kassian) so no thanks. He'll disappear when the games get more intense and physical, he always has.

In fairness, you hate the Canucks though so I'll give you a pass. Maybe you'll come up with some better troll statements next time, don't give up man!

So Gardiner was our best D?

Or was he 2nd worse behind Ranger in your eyes?

None of our D were tearing it up that's for sure.
