i like it. i was thinking bout zero for ties but didn't think it fair to have it count the same as a loss.....how about lose a point when you lose?? - hogweed
3 pts for a win in regulation
2 points for an OT win
1 point for a tie or an OT loss
Zero points for a loss in regulation |

I've always liked the idea of making a regulation win 3 points. OT win 2 points. OT loss 1 point and Tie 1 point each. I hate the shootout. Not just because the Flyers suck at it. It's the only sport to end a game with a skill competition. Could you imagine the NBA having a 3 point competition instead of OT. Or how about a home run derby instead of extra innings. |

Wars never really end anymore. There isn't one side that concedes. Every war is pretty much a terrorist war or a revolution. |

I don't like comparisons of sports to war. Have you ever heard George Carlin's baseball vs. football? - PhillySportsGuy
Don't believe I have.

Someone had posted earlier that this run might be fraudulent and that no real issues have been addressed.
I take the stance that, the games they are winning now are the same games they were losing a few weeks ago.
They made some changes schematically, but for the most part they stayed the course and we are winning the close games now.
We will make the playoffs and go as far as we are playing as a team in late March/early April.
No-one has been more critical of Homer than me. But the Read signing surprised me and looks genius now. I love that kid. Along with G, LeCavalier, Voracek, Couts and B Schenn, we will have a solid core going forward.
Is there any way, any way at all that we can Parlay Laughton into a defensive piece that can benefit us both now and in the long-run? Cannot wait for Morin and Hagg to come up. I really hope we are surprised next Spring by one or both of them making the team out of camp. |

Louis CK gives a ton of credit to Carlin. He says his career took off when he started to follow Carlin's advice of throwing away his material every year and starting over. He said it forced him to dig deeper each year and get more personal about everything.

I think the next time there is a lockout, they should settle it by a shoot-out.... give them a taste of their own medicine... Bettman in on Fehr.... He shoots.... and everyone loses... - youarewrong
both bettman and fehr are goalies with no equipment and each side gets to pick 3 shooters. players get to choose current and past players and the league gets owners or gm's as shooters |

I think that the run they have been on is anything but fraudulent. They're playing a lot better hockey. They're going to the net, working hard, supporting the puck. The changes that Berube made are evident and being embraced by the whole roster.
They can also be better. They still take too many penalties and they're still having issues with taking their foot off the gas.
I do think they need a good, mobile defenseman with good puck skills-especially in transition-to take the next steps. |
