Marc-Andre Fleury threw one over the glass in the early going of the Pens/Caps game last night but the refs didn't call it, even though everyone else did. Must be a great to be a penguin these days.

How's the Sabre power play?
Did you see how proficient the Flyers have become at tossing the puck over the glass? 3 Delay of Game penalties the other night

As long as it's not great to be a Penguin in the Spring, that's OK.....

Thanks Bill!

My 3 keys to tonight's game:

1. Come out with urgency and score first. I expected Buffalo to get a short term boost from the coaching change, putting them behind early may quickly negate that.

2. Discipline, discipline, discipline! There is NO reason to take penalties against this team, so don't! Lets not give the Sabres a bunch of pp opportunities.

3. To get a lead would be nice, however to really pile it on would be even better. Even though, they've won a couple of games recently, I doubt the Sabres are a club that is brimming with confidence. If the Flyers can jump out to an early 2 goal lead, they should be able to put the Sabres away.

Pens played well last night. That PP goal Crosby scored was pretty spectacular. I can't believe he one-timed the puck from that angle. Very few left-handed shooters can score that goal.

Thought some of you might enjoy the following!

And now the top 10 things I'd like to see happen in the NHL this season:

10. A puck comes off Crosby's stick, heads right between the benches and drills Pierre right in the schnozz. Priceless!

9. A group of Munchkins appear in NYC to return Bettman to the land of Oz

8. The Devils miss the playoffs and the team that gets their spot in the lottery wns the 1st overall pick

7. The Rangers, after trading their 1st round pick , miss the playoffs. Are you sensing a theme yet?

6. Ed Olczyk comes down with a permanent case of laryngitis. Please!

5. Mike Milbury leaves his current job to replace Sather as GM of the Rangers.

4. MAF has a complete meltdown after giving up a softie in game 1 of the 1st round and the Pens go on to be swept

3. Someone, anyone, beats the friggin Blackhawk this spring!

2. After leading the Flyers to 102 points and 2nd in the Metro div, Berube wins the Adams trophy

and at #1.....

1. Steve Mason wins both the Vezina and the Smythe trophies as the Flyers finally win their 3rd Stanley Cup!!

I can't remember seeing a team get called for Delay of the game 3 times like that. I'm sure it's happened, but I don't remember seeing it.

What is the prevailing opinion of having Ted Nolan back?

has it gotten worse since Vanek left or has it been underperforming all year?

I mentioned this yesterday, and as much as I know Farley would be awesome as Rob Ford, I'm convinced that John Goodman can do that role and maybe even Jack Black.

If some aspiring screen writer doesn't put a Rob Ford script together by the end of the year, I'll be sorely disappointed.

I could see jack black or goodman but to me the gold standard would have been Farley.

On a hockey related note, wondering why not start razor tonight? Come back with mase Saturday

Damn, no Risto or Zadorov.

- wolfhounds

Didn't someone freak out on here when Zadorov scored a goal because that proved the Flyers should have picked him over Morin?

I'm with you. Keep both goalies fresh and active for the lengthy stretch of away games coming up. I would also want Mason in against the better offensive team in the Islanders.

The one on Giroux was a pretty stupid call. He swatted a bouncing puck and it sliced out of play.

Morin should be selling me hot dogs and over-priced, watered-down, horrible tasting lagers at the Wells Fargo Center because if he's not in the NHL yet, he's clearly never going to make it.

There, I said what everybody was thinking.

Zadorov showed he has all the tools to be a great Defenseman. He is just young and needs to learn how to keep his position instead of trying to lay the big hit all of the time. I have no problem with that though, he has shown he is willing to lay the body.

His offensive game was very smooth, which was surprising to me.

Please take it easy on the Sabres tonight. What has changed all of the sudden? People finally getting their heads out of their arses. What is it 5 wins in the last 6 games?

I just don't like how the calls are made. The broken stick (or dropped) stick is always a slash. The stick in the mid section (that an offensive player will hold between his arm and body) is always a hook. Whenever a player falls they almost always call a trip and rarely call JUST diving.

Much better positional play. The team doesn't spend 2/3 of the game in their own end trying to break out of the zone. The overall confidence that came from stringing a couple wins has also helped.

You could also argue they had bad luck early on and have had some fortunate breaks recently.

Mason has been astounding all year. With average goaltending, the Flyers would be pretty close to the Sabers in terms of points.

Good to see him back in the league -- nobody can get more out of a deplorably shtty team than Ted Nolan, that's for sure.

He doesn't seem to have much lasting power, though. I'd be surprised if the new GM hangs on to him.
