So at the rink you guys didn't know what was going on?
Right after the play on the TV their was a very quick replay where I though, uh oh, but then the play continued for a while.

I think they played ~3 minutes before a stoppage and the eventual review.
That must have been annoying.

- Marc D

In the arena, I actually thought there was something wrong with the glass or the boards or something.

The video board kept showing people dancing, which entertained my 7 YO son, but kinda annoyed me, because it was a critical juncture of the game and I wanted to get back at it.

Maybe I should have been thankful for the break, because Kimmo scored right after it....

Only way they could do the old style masks with the same visibility would be to open up, the eyelets, which has puck-to-eye blindness written all over it.
- jmatchett383

esposito had the mask with the wire cage literally welded over the eyes. that was weird. it just can't be done. the new pro-level masks are amazing. they run about $900-1000 bucks. worth the money to protect your head.

Based on that logic, GMs should never sign players to more than a one year contract because every promising player will end up being a bust
- mcefalu

No, my point is that the Flyers shouldn't fearful of offering a one-year deal to an RFA because they think it will piss him off. It's a negotiation, but the Flyers hold the cards based on his FA status.

Or, we can just get emotionally invested and offer him a 6 year, $24 million deal.

Ok I agree with that. I thought you were saying that it's never a good idea to offer a multi year deal because the risk is just too great. I agree with the Flyers' advantage regarding Mason's RFA status. My B.

So is the Rinaldo PK experiment over with?
- Pixote Andolini

I know some folks here aren't wild about it, but I think a little patience needs to be shown. I do think he does have the raw skills to be good at the PK. Whether he's got the mental aspect of the PK down is another matter.

All it really takes to be a good PKer is to be willing to skate hard...or something.

Well...if Rinaldo can do anything, it's skate hard.

We love preaching patience with certain players and we cite their age.

Rinaldo is 23. It's not like they are taking Frank Bialowas in his Phantoms heyday and putting him out on the PK. I think Rinaldo can skate a bit and I think he cares enough to do what it takes on the PK. I think he just needs a bit of time.

Did you know Frank Bialowas actually has an NHL rookie card? He has a 93/94 Parkhurst card, as I think he played like 2 games for Toronto. Man that guy was fun to watch.

Edit: Just looked at his stats...In the UHL (???) he had 78 PIM in 5 games for an average of 15.6 PIM/game. That's approaching Link Gaetz status.[/img]

That reminds me of this gem:

Brian Burke @brianburke Feb 3rd
Ran into Eklund last night. He kept grilling me about trades and rumors. Finally I just paid him for the pizza and slammed the door.

There will no doubt be some rough patches, but I think he has what it takes to at the very least be a decent penalty killer eventually

Any chance you could zone some of those rock throwing areas for low-income housing? All I need is about 50 sq. feet of sturdy cardboard or MDF and a few stainless steel piss buckets.
- jmatchett383

There's a wide Easement where The Bastard Pub backs up to Fu King Chinese. You could probably squatt the area. Zoning codes transfer owners rights in 6 months within the town's borders.

Frank fought Tony Twist while he was in the NHL. (link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zR7yHwKcs-E)

And I'm pretty sure Tony Twist killed a guy.

I also don't like how they've forgotten how to kill penalties lately.
- twotoekenn

- Talbot + Rinaldo on PK= decreased ability to kill penalties.

Rinaldo will learn and they will get back on track.

Here's the other gem from that account... kind of a dated reference, but still hilarious:

Brian Burke @brianburke Mar 29th
Pogge was so upset after last night's game that he threw himself in front of my car - but it went through his legs! So I backed over him.
