This team is really hard to write about, I feel like I could just use the same story and change the team name |

A good GM makes his own market. If he was willing to trade 1st and 2nd round picks so early in the season this year then he should have parted with them in the offseason for an impact player. He miserably miserably failed this offseason. Terrible job by him. - NewYawkIslandez
As I said, it's all about results and no longer about the reasons. Defense was definitely a need, though I think the approach was to 'wait and see' therefore not losing assets unless completely necessary. Losing Vis and Strait was a killer for a team light on defense. Going into the season most here agreed we needed one top pairing guy to really step forward this year. There were two on the market and both had their minds made up before they hit the market. So while I agree that Garth's ultimate failure was not acquiring a top pairing dman, I think most will vastly underestimate the cost in assets such an acqusition would have required.

Eh, he wasn't great tonight but he was far from the reason they lost. There aren't many goalies who would look all that good with that catastrophe going on in front of them. |

I think he picked the wrong offseason to wait and see. This was a big opportunity for him to improve the team when hype was high. He overpaid for Vanek so he should have overpaid in a trade for something we desperately needed over the summer. It stinks that we will suck this year after last season and lose any steam they gained. Brooklyn is 2 years away, we can't go into Brooklyn being the same old isles. |

5 against is rough no matter what the D's doing. My guess is Nilsson gets a start next game, although against the Pens, whoever starts is probably in for another long night. |

Sure did, but I don't think he anticipated losing his #1 and #4 dman for an extended period like this. Sure we would have been weak defensively but nothing like this. The one major offseason disappointment was the lack of cap casualties. Snow's biggest problem right now isn't even on the ice, it's behind the bench. |

It could have been far worse than 5. I think Poulin will play again. No point in killing a second goalie's confidence. |

Nope Nabakov. Actually Nabby played his best game of the season - mighty13duck
Being our GM won't do it, does anyone know if Gary Bettman is permitted to fire a teams coach. if so, to protect the team, let's all give him a call. can't hurt? Maybe he has the ability to make personnel changes as well as Carkner MUST GO along
with MVP Regin and Bouchard. Might as well bring up 3 guys from Bport, can't be any worse than these 3 guys that do nothing but hurt the team, game after game after game, especially Carkner

Again, I'd like SOMEONE- ANYONE to explain to me what it is they are trying to do out there. I just don't understand the game plan, at all. I guess only understand defense- if a hockey team doesn't make defense the focal point of what they do, I have trouble picturing what the point is, because....well, because it doesn't work in the NHL....never has, and never will.... - dcb1
Same stupid press conference after each game, telling us how well they played, even after losing 6-2, 2-0, doesn't seem to matter. really appreciate Cappys seeing the glass as half full, as opposed to totally empty which is what the team is right now with him |

It will not be long until the injury excuse comes out. Cappy will get even more time from management. - ses111
The Islanders have out shot their opponents 78-48 last two games and have been outscored 9-6 not including the shootout vs. Detroit. This is a prime example of what's been wrong with this team this year. I don't think capuano is Al Arbour but how the heck is this team supposed to win with this goaltending and defense even when healthy?
Tell me what teams do Ness, Martinek,Carkner,Donovan play for other than the Isles ? what team would give hickey a chance? What team would give Strait a chance and insert him in lineup as a top 4 defenseman ? And what team would hamonic and Amac be a top pairing?
What team would Nabokov be the opening night starter ?
I'm frustrated too but if anyone deserves to be fired over what's transpired the last 6 months it's Garth snow. He's traded our #2 prospect for a bottom 6 forward, he's traded an NHL top 10 goal scorer in recent years, a first round pick and a 2nd round pick for another top scorer. Streit also walked (salary demands ridiculous) and not replaced .
Those are all major assets that were moved to do nothing to improve any weakness on this team.
Say all you want how capuano sucks but tonight is another prime example of lousy defensive mistakes, average at best goaltending contributed to a blowout loss in a game where the isles probably put played the leafs or played them even at worst for most of it |

It's an issue. It's a very close 2nd to the defense. Most goalies stop kessels first goal and clqrksom goal tonight. |

Im still waiting to read the story on how the team got back to the Hotel to find Poulin tied up in his room with a Charlotte Checkers jersey on.
