and less of a puss.

- Isles_since_6

What makes Phaneuf a puss?

Because he doesn't fight? That's awesome, cuz I'd rather have him on the ice thn in the box, or even worse, breaking a hand.

Because he dodged a Scott hit? I say he lost an edge trying to stop, but for the sake of debate, lets say he did a total bailout. I'd rather our top defender bailing on a hit before driving 60km into a wall.

Lol they assaulted the Wild haha! One bad hit. I believe this is a NYI thread and Minnesota has nothing to do with it. Focus on your own team while both our fans enjoy watching OUR teams tonight.
- Babalu88

I was referring to how physical your team is compared to the Wild.

Leaf fans... gotta love 'em

not referring to the John Scott situation at all (that guy is a waste of space), moreso the number of times Dion takes runs at people and/or cheap shots that he won't stand up and fight his own battles for. That preseason hit on Okposo as a member of the flames, was running from everyone the rest of the game. Only example I'm going to spend time typing up, widely regarded as a spineless puss who lets others fight his battles.

Well we will agree to disagree.

Because im pretty sure 90% of the GMs in this league would welcome him on their team.

Not saying that he's not a good defenseman, just saying he's a coward.

He has never answered the bell for his hit on Okposo while in Calgary and has run from any fight from any of our isles since then

I agree Grabner could be had for an upgrade to the D, but It really shouldn't be ANY upgrade to the D. He may be a bottom 6 player with 25 goal ability, but his skills on the PK are what should be his true selling point & bring back a very good second pairing D-men.

Exactly- I'm expecting that the potential one of our forwards being traded for a defenseman would be part of a package to bring us back a GOOD defenseman. We can get more crap off the wire at some point. The real issue I see at this point is that most of the "D" names being talked about right now are just more of what we have- we don't need another small, power play QB type. We need at least a second shelf, if not top shelf (although that might be TOO pricey), large, strong skating, DEFENSIVE defenseman, or else it's not worth the loss of anyone.

Yeah, I know....and that's ridiculous. I don't use that insulting word to describe mentally challenged people. In my world, that word is reserved for people who should know better, and most grown adults I know use it in that same context. For some reason, somebody is missing that boat here, and taking it personally.

Yeah, no one is going to defend John Scott....that guy is a complete waste of a clean uniform....

Fair enough.

I just don't think he is a coward either. We have goons to fight his battles for him.

I do agree he starts poop and (frank)s off, but I doubt it's because hes scared. He just tries to lures people in.

Well thanks for the info. Didn't know.

Changed it, but considering some of you quoted it, I may still get yanked.

Time will tell.

NYI currently has a serious need for a decent #4 or 5 Dman that can help the transition game & replace MacDonald on the power play. Even if Visnovsky wasn't out with a significant concussion your missing this player.

When Liles last played he was coming back from injury. He played 32 games getting little to no PP time & was minus 1 when Carlyle removed him from the line up.

If Liles isn't moved he will be bought out. He will be signed some where fir reasonable money & prove he's still a useful NHL defensemen. He's only 32 years old. He can't. Have just lost it over night.

I'm not saying he's the solution to all your Data problems. He would help, he can be had for nothing & if Snow could convince Nonis to eat 1.5 mil which makes sense when you run the $ against the cap, the future buy out cost & the impact on Toronto cap today it makes sense.

He would be your 3rd best Dman today, #4 if & when Visnovsky returns & his only cost to the team is cash. Cash that the insurance is paying Visnovsky as we speak.

Terrible defense on that goal. Poulin was anticipating the wraparound and the isles watched the feed and tap in. Glad to see cappy has them ready to play.

That's on the D. Like Isles_since_6 wrote. Isles do not know how to pick up the right man. Isles idea of D is just let the team march right into your zone with little resistance. Maybe Cappy took them to a Dave and Busters last night?

As good as Ness looked the other night, he and Carkner have had an awful first couple of shifts

Again, you must not watch many Isles games, bc they have to many Liles on team, they need bigger stay-at-home D-men....
So maybe you can sell Liles to another team, cause it doesn't make sense on any Islander level.....

- Ur Not Me

I watch 2 to 3 NHL games a night on average & every team in the league at least once, as well as reviewing all goals for & against for every team on you tube. Neither of Donovan or Ness are NHL ready. Their mistakes are costing wins & I don't think Carkner is an NHL defensemen. This may be the worst Day in the NHL.

The #'s say it's the 4th worst but team defense & goaltending factor into that #. Your goaltending hasn't been great but in Nielsen, Grabner, Cizikas & Martin you have 2 solid penalty killing units with Hamonic & MacDonald on D.

This team cannot put multiple good games together. Just once I'd like to see the D stop backing up all the time.

I saw enough of Carkner when he was a Senator to feel bad for you guys. He's not a bad team guy, but I hope his defensive abilities are not his best qualities.
