In a way, going by the stats this year and last, we have two #1's, no?

The only reason we're rotating goalies is because neither has played bad enough to sit for any length of time and not because they don't deserve to keep playing. A good problem to have, the way I see it. One thing is for sure...it would suck to lose one of the two, and end up with an injury to the guy we kept. Season over, in that case..

yea, we do have two #1s, what I meant is neither has taken off with it. They're both dueling it out. The only club with a better team save % is Boston.

And that's just because Rask's played all but 3 of their games

I know Reimer has been great. His rebound contol is way better this year. I just see Bernier as better over the long haul. He is just so positionally sound.

If I had to guess the most value you would get is from a playoff team who has goalie issues right at the dead line.

Leafs luck though you trade Reimer he wins the Vezina and Bernier goes down the next game.

Unfortunately in this era of cap management, no team can afford to have anything more than a Top goalie as your number one and a german sheppard as your backup

Fortunately for us, we have what looks like two #1's and if it ain't broke...don't try to fix it by taking it apart.

Both have played very well. Reimer has made pretty big improvements with rebound control and his glove hand. Bernier sill has the edge in those aspects of the game plus his puck handling is way better.

The one area I really like Reimer is his battle, and that he never gives up on a play, even late in the 3rd after being peppered with 35-40 + shots. It was mentioned in one of the games last week, that most of Bernier's goals against have come in later in the 3rd, when he might be getting tired and more sloppy.

He gets bored. He seems to relax a little when the Leafs have the lead.

For this year, yes. I'm concerned that Reimer is going to want a nifty little raise at the end of this year if he keeps putting up these numbers

thing is, he's an RFA. He doesn't lose much value in the summer.

I can see Reimer taking a bit of a pay cut if him and Bernier continue this. They both seem to enjoy with the way things are going, and both help each other out.

Question is, do you do this if we make the playoffs? Or do you stick to one goalie (the better one at the time obviously).

Those are very rare. Maybe Washington or Detroit? Most playoff caliber teams have their #1 guy.

If one was moved I see Reimer/Bernier as a better fit for a young team looking to add a #1 guy.

Teams tell me Senators GM Bryan Murray has been working the phones. Club needs help on defence. Inconsistency has gone on for a month

Ottawa is actually playing Karlsson more than 30 minutes in games.. he simply can't sustain any level of play with those kind of minutes... and frankly he's not great in his own zone.

It will be interesting to see how Murray tries to get himself out of this situation.... 'cause unlike the acquisition of Bobby Ryan, he(Murray) doesn't have the other GMs necessarily over a barrel.... perhaps a deal with Philly where by he gets someone like Schenn .. perhaps for Zibanejad.... clearly looks like Schenn is in the dog house in Philly.

What were talking about is a contender who has a number one goalie who just ripped his knee apart in February and is gone for the rest of the year.

Let me re-phrase that. Don't mean he's going to ask for less than what he makes, obviously more, but I don't see him asking for ludicrous money either, I see him being reasonable if he wants to stay here.

give Reimer exactly the same money as Bernier - if things continue as they are. Then you have next year with more or less the same situation and motivation. If one or other definitely grabs the net, then you have a reasonably priced very good goaltender to use as a trading chip.

I know what you mean, and kind of agree, but I was more thinking who can Murray target to shore up his defense... and Schenn clearly has skating issues but he wasn't that bad in Toronto for part of the time.

Thinking more about a serious injury to a number #1 around the deadline. As mentioned though that team likely seeks out a rent a veteran not Reimer.. Maybe off season is best. No risk during the playoffs and still get good value back on an RFA.
