Lost to the Panthers. They have like 394 more games played than the majority of the league and still suck. It's going to be a great time watching them miss the playoffs this year, and how Torts and the fans react to it and each other.

Makes me wish we could get a kid like Justin Faulk out of Carolina. He's been a rock defensively. Pair him with Phaneuf, and Gunnerson with one of Franson/Gardiner/Rielly... Some really decent pairings defensively.

I think smith has played very well since moving up in the lineup, I agree he's earned the right to stay (for now)

At this point it doesn't matter.. you just cant fire him now. Maybe he will indeed turn the culture around... Mac is sticking with him, they've been through enough coaches recently.

Some of his decisions though have been mind bottling... playing Ryan (frank)ing Smyth so much.... I mean (frank)

The thing about Eakins was that he got labelled a good coach who could get the best out of young players. The problem, or should I say misconception, was that he did (frank) all with the young players and often benched them in favour of veterans and rode them to as much success as he could. A totally over rated coach, IMO.

I would've punched him in the head too, twice. That was Ranger's complaint.

I was gunning for Holland to stay on the 3rd line because I think he has more upside and skill than Smith, but I think it'll be:

JVR Bozak Kessel
Lupul Kadri Clarkson
Raymond Smith/McClement* Kulemin
McClement* Smithson Orr

With Smithson dominating on the draw, I can't see that guy coming out; he also rounds out a 4th line that can play some hockey.

* McClement will likely form a shutdown line again with Raymond and Kulemin, Smith getting a bit of PP time perhaps at the tail end and a few shifts with Lupul again.
