It's true. I don't get why Ranger gets trashed daily while nobody ever mentions Franson. It's been a mystery to me all year. |

My wife has never really liked sports but deals with my obsession.
Now that my son is a little superstar hockey player she is obsessed with minor novice hockey! |

this is like when the GF says "you're lucky I'm not fat"
"sweetheart, if you were fat, we'd never have met."

While Franson has played poorly, at no point has he been as bad as Ranger.

Here's the kicker: last year, while Franson was being proclaimed the best defenseman on the team, his ES TOI/GA was the second worst on the team behind Holzer.
Gardiner was near the top (in an admittedly smaller sample size).
Franson's never been a great defender. He's a #5 (maybe #4 with a good partner) who should be playing most teams' #1 PP unit. It's kind of a weird combination, but it will ensure he gets overpaid. |

it is. You only notice defensive dmen when they make mistakes. Gunnar doesn't make many at all.

Was that before or after he gave the puck away at the side of the net twice and got caught on a two on one? |

He was also playing the fewest minutes per game ES. He and Fraser were bottom pairing 5 on 5 the first 35 games for a reason...

After I believe. When he pushed Okposo off the puck causing the turnover, got it out then blocked a shot. |

On the flip side, Franson has had as many (and arguably more) bad games.
Ranger is good for a catastrophic mistake now and again, but at least he can stabilize and settle into a good rythym when he's on. |

True. His ES minutes were probably among the easiest minutes on the team.
At least Holzer had an excuse. |
