Why the (frank) is Bernier in net. - Leafland
Leafs are the only team that can put two of the leagues top goalies in. They both need to play to stay sharp. Plus Bernier is better IMO. |

I've watched Bernier let one in from the opposing teams blue line, as well as an errant pass from his own blue line that he deflected in. |

Why the (frank) is Bernier in net. - Leafland
Haven't you heard? The leafs have given the starter job to Bernier. So much for giving it to whoever deserves the net. Hasn't Bernier lost 2 or 3 in a row? Not saying they are his fault at all, quite the contrary. But we all know if that was Reimer that lost 2 or 3 in a row we wouldn't stop hearing about it.

LOL - Right, because Reimer doesn't have a track record that dates back before this 7 game stretch.
I am a fan of both Reimers and Bernier - I am just not convinced as of yet that Bernier is the better goalie. |

Reims is a good tendie. But Bernier's job to lose imo |

Yup. Here's how I see it:
Bernier: relaxed, calm, poised; better stick handling, better rebound control. Downside, prone to mental lapses/soft goals (see "calm"... maybe too calm sometimes?), smallish.
Reimer: big/fills the net, intense, focused, battler; more experience, resilient, earns every start; downside, see Bernier's upside (especially puck/rebound control). |

In terms of Puck handling, positioning, glove, five hole, penalty shots... Bernier is better. Reimer is a great goalie, don't get me wrong, but Bernier is better suited to be a number one. |

Bernier, undeservedly, has a longer rope to work with then Reimer.
Reimer deserves to be in net tonight, but yeah, Bernier is definitely the number 1 on this team.
I am happy we have them both, best tandem in the NHL!! |

Maybe so, it just bugs me that everyone is always quick to point out Reimer's flaws. When Reimer kicks a puck into the corner the tv announcer are like "What a huge rebound!" and ignore the fact that he did that on purpose. I'm not so ingnorant to say that Reimer doesn't handle rebounds as well as Bernier, but the comments about his rebound control are over exaggerated.

I like Bernier, if he legitimately beats Reimer for the job I couldn't care less. That jsut means we have amazing goaltending. But to just give it to Bernier like this after all that Reimer has done is sad imo. I expected better from nonis and carlyle.

Reimer hasn't lost the job yet. Its more of a rotation.
At least we're not as bad as the habs who keep playing desharnas 18 mins a game while thier third overall pick Galchyuk plays less than 15. |

They are making it seem like he hasn't lost it. Maybe he hasn't, but its heavily in Bernier's position. him not playing tonight after a win and Bernier's successive losses proves that... I think. |

I'd have to disagree. As it currently stands, I think Reimer has won over Carlyle and the rest of the Leaf brass as the front runner. |

as is the glove hand. I love when Healy does his (frank)ing analysis on Reimers goals on glove hand last season.
Ok, fine... now do it on every other goalie in the league...
what's that? nearly identical results? you don't say... wonder why that could be. Couldn't possibly be that most shooters shoot high glove on all goalies cause it's where the room is, could it?

If that were even remotely true, Carlyle would have gone with Reimer tonight after Saturday's win.
so, gonna have to call FALSE on ya.
EDIT: LEafs play every other day through next Wed, then back to back Fri-SAt.
I could see them alternating every game over that span. |
