Jonathan Bernier was to start in goal Tuesday night against the Islanders.
Leaf lines at the morning skate shaped up like this:
Peter Holland between Kessel and James Van Riemsdyk
Trevor Smith between David Clarkson and Joffrey Lupul
Jay McClement between Mayson Raymond and Nik Kulemin
Jerred Smithson between Fraser McLaren and Colton Orr.
Carter Ashton looks to be a healthy scratch; Nazem Kadri and Bozak were the extras.
Saturday both Kadri and Bozak will be back... |

(frank) no.. he is a very good complimentary player.
without strong offensive zone pressure he isnt going to be of much use.
need to get him playing regularly with kadri.. kadri draws people in by maintaining puck control allowing clarkson to go setup
kadr puts it on net and clarkson hacks away until it goes in.
he is a dirty goal scorer.. pretty isnt something people should be watching for. - Dozzer
he will probley score around 20, 12 of them will be rebounds! 8 will be quick shots or deflects lol |

Love all these leaf fans giving up on Clarkson after 10 games when they'll be the ones vehemently defending him later this year when his slump is all but a distant memory. - PotvinFan
I'm not 'giving up on him'.....but his play looks worse than a 'slump'. |

in fairness that gif is intentionally cut off short.
if you watch the whole video she never completely falls because he stopped to catch her.
by cutting that last couple seconds off it makes it look far worse than it is. - Dozzer
Why was he running anyways? |

He's not being a defensive liability and trying his best to find chemistry with the revolving door of centers we've had since his return. |

Clarkson goes on streaks, once one goes in you'll see he'll score 7 or 8 in 10 games, then he'll slump for 10 to 15 gp, then he'll go on another run. He's a 20 goal scorer, 40 point guy. Nothing more, nothing less. That's not to slag the guy, the only thing I don't like about him is the way his ankles bend when he skates. He'd benefit from some Underhill training I think. Not that he's not fast, he's just awkward. - mykokes
He hit 20 goals or more once in his NHL career ( 30 goals in 2011-12) and got more than 40 points only once in that same season (46).
If I only consider full seasons (so no lockout or the ones where he got injured (which helps him) he has an average of 17 goals and 29.5 points.
That's what you have and are more likely to get. |

Definitely still a better signing than Briere. I'm fine with him getting 15-20 goals so long as he's doing the rest of his duties. |

Who the (frank) is talking about Brière? I (frank)ing hate that guy.
At least we're stuck with him only for 2 years. So I'm not even sure it's better. |
