I think the Flyer's goalie coach with Mason's positioning has been a big positive for Mason.

Jeff Reese is a really good goalie coach. Every goalie, save one(Bryzgalov), improved a great deal working with him.

I'm sure he realized he was getting a second chance and he is really taking advantage. its so fabulous to have a young good goalie and also to have a good veteran backup too.

Yeah. I'm very impressed by Mason. I'm generally slow to build faith in goalies(I think I was the only fan in Philly at times that didn't think Niittymaki should be the starter), but he's winning me over.

The mental approach has been stellar. He's really locked in and even when he has looked a bit shaky or allows a goal that he might want back(as much as I hate that term) he rebounds and puts it behind him.

Granted, those times he's looked shaky have been few and far between as a Flyer, and I honestly can only think of one soft goal all season long-the Harrison goal in the Carolina game.

What's funny is that Columbus held onto Mason for as long as they could because Scott Howson was of the belief that he was going to snap out of it -- they liked Bob, but wanted him to challenge Mason.

Small sample size for both, but long term I would be happier with Mason than Bob.

Very true. The natural ability was never in question. Even if Holmgren didn't plan it-and that might not be totally fair-it worked out great so far, for both teams.

The reason I say that Homer didn't plan it, was that the Flyers have had interest in Mason for a long time. There were rumors that he was heavily in the discussions during the Carter trade talks and that Reese has loved him for a long time.

It might be called low humor, but any humor is good to me.

the penalty shot, and probably 2 or 3 other kinds of shots as well.

No doubt. I was really saying even if brz had gotten us to that point in the game, he would have let up the PS and the momentum woulda gone the other way

A young, 6-4, wrong-handed goalie who is athletic...I don't believe in jinxes, that stuff. I truly don't think what we're seeing is a fluke. Even regression means we'd be getting above-average goaltending, at this rate.

Truthfully, I think it's more likely that that the Flyers' defense actually gets better and we have a stable goaltending position for years to come.

just a matter of time before a new contract is announced for Mase.

He's an RFA, no Need to pull a Ryan Howard. Love the way he's playing, but need to see how he responds to the 'dog days' unless of course they don't happen.

they don't even look like the same team from earlier in the year. Passes are crisp ... they're winning battles along the boards ... and hustling all over the place.

the only constant is Mason (and Emery)

All true -- glad to see Jeff Reese getting credit here, as well. He really has done good things with goaltenders for the Flyers.

It's way too soon to think about Game 50, 60, 70...but even with regression, if Mason can just bring it home at a .915 for the season....this thing has a good chance of getting out of the ditch, and then some.
