Would be awesome if GMmg could broker luo back to Florida tonight.
Luo booth Hansen
for Campbell Gomez upshaw
Then Timmy Thomas can get sent to Calgary or the isles
I think that Gomez do well with Kesler on the wing actually - TJTD

Ahem, this is season number three of mediocre... - 1970vintage
By mediocre I think he means missing the playoffs entirely.
I'd be ok with one season of that IF management did have a well-conceived and forward looking plan. The issue is I'm really not convinced he does or is capable. |

I don't think you have to miss the playoffs entirely in order to have a strategy and execute it successfully. So, no, I am not willing to cheer for a "mediocre" team, if I was I'd be an Oilers fan. |

Unless you are over 35 and could have enjoyed the glory years there is no reason I can see cheering for the oilers. |

I'd agree but we don't have the minds in upper management of a DET or seemingly SJ. Don't look for well-executed strategies from MG, unless you find scouring the waiver wire and/or seeking the next reclamation project as a Stanley Cup winning strategy.
It's also occurred to me recently that, in the one area Gillis actually does get major points on (re-signing contracts at moderate cap hits) he can only get the job done by throwing in NTCs. This creates a wholly different problem child which we might be seeing now in any efforts to improve this team via trade. |

Yeah, my point wasn't that I think MG will or can. It was a hypothetical, WOULD you be willing to cheer for the Canucks this season as they tank for a high pick with the payoff being they put it together next season. For me, its a no, because I don't think you have to "suck" to get better. Agree on the NTC. If I were a GM I'd have a no NTC policy and would find other ways to add incentive to play here. Although, I don't mind some of the limited NTC that some guys have. A short list of places a player does not want to get traded to is pretty fair, as long as that list is provided in the body of the contract so if I do want to trade them I don't have to come to them first and ask. |

I'm actually not sure how this works but I'd imagine it's not in the body of the contract. Simply put if a player signs a 6 year contract, a lot can happen to the fortunes of the other teams in the league during that time.
What also sucks about a NTC is that if you ask a player to waive his NTC for a trade and it ends up falling through then the guy understands loud and clear that he's playing for a team that wants him shipped out. Not the greatest environment. |

Yeah, that's why I would want it stipulated in the contract. Or at the very least, a new list submitted at the start of every season. |

Yeah, that loss wasn't due to bad play. Just lack of finish(surprise, surprise) and a very good goalie. - Nucker101
We do tend to make many goalies look good though....... |
