There's actually a really weird phenomenon in Japan right now. People (both sexs) ages 16-35 have virtually no sex drive. The government is even trying initiatives to get people to have sex. They're worried about the massive lack of reproduction in this generation.

Not likely. They left a ton of their best guys at home. Bad goalies.

Roloson was the original Leaf killer long b4 Miller. I remember him as a young goalie in 1999. He was the backup in Buffalo for Hasek. Game 1 of the semi-finals, Leafs vs Sabres at the ACC, Hasek is out with an injury. Roloson backstops the Sabres to a 5-4 win.

This is how sex has worked for mankind over the millenia:

We have, as guys, 20x the testosterone that women do. It's what gives us our sex drives, but it's also what allows us to do crazy things in order to gain the status, and thus approval of women we want to bang.

That's why we fought wars(protect our progeny) and built crazy structures, and invented things, because our excess testosterone was channelled into civilized ventures that would otherwise go towards fighting the guy down the road in order to get teh girl we want.

If we get to the point where the 80% of men who aren't benefactors of the 80/20 rule(80% of the sex young broads have is with 20% of men) then society shuts down. Men no longer have a reason to sacrifice as much as our ancestors because we're simply not interested in this generation of 'ladies'...y'know, the spoiled princesses who demand we give them a lifestyle and pamper them. The same girls who think they're too good to even keep within a healthy BMI index and thus get fat once 'the chase' is over and their man is tamed.

All of modern economic is based on consumption, and consumption is primarily based on sex and the desire to get it. If men don't care for sex, we don't buy nice new cars because the modest sedan that's 5 years old is good enough for what we need. We don't buy nice clothes, go out to restaurants etc. In fact, we simply don't need to work harder to obtain the income we'd need to attract a wife. The whole system would collapse and all the industries built around consumption go tits up, governments don't generate the tax revenue they used to and go bankrupt.

- AngryWhiteMale

The last paragraph sums up my thoughts well. I have no desire to impress women anymore. I feel like there's no use in gettin into a relationship with most of the girls I meet. It's actually pretty fun playing hard to get. I would much rather a girl with a good personality and who is down to earth than a Barbie doll expecting you to provide for them. The Kim kardashians of the world make me sick. Give me a hippy chick who is cute and is likes you for who you are. So hard to find those types but in willing to wait.

It would be a hockey trade for an almost identical cap hit, identical term, but in our depth charts, a stay-at-home veteran guy fits our needs; in Carolina, they need a veteran puck-mover/PP QB.

Ideally, someone would take Liles for a bag of pucks and possibly salary retention, but I don't think Nonis is having any luck, so if you have a cap boat anchor, why not a boat anchor that actually fills a gap in the depth charts?

I think this has as much to do with Fraser's ongoing knee issue though.

- gravyface

that hits the nail on the head.If Fraser isn't good to go, macwilliam isn't ready and we need at least one tough stay at home dman come playoff time.
I'd rather have an extra tough dman come playoff time than two or three extra puck movers.

You just have to accept the fact that sex is essentially supply and demand. Most girls can get sex easily(which is why we have a stud/slut double standard) and the fact is that a lot of these girls have been raised thinking they're princesses. They're easily the most materialitic, spoiled generation of women who have ever existed, and guys know how hard it is to find a normal girl who's willing to raise normal, level-headed children, so there's a LOT of guys competing for a relatively small number of women.

That's why you see so many women who don't want an average guy until after they've 'had their fun'. What that means is that until you get the status and money to compensate for your lack of initial attractiveness, and SHE gets older to the point where she isn't able to attract the guys she used to get in her 20s it's really difficult to connect with women who were raised to believe that they are all angels...

There was a good line from comedian(not my fav. mind you) named doug stanhope who had a great line on the unionization of wussy:

"They've created a union-like situation where--just like a labor union-- even the most unskilled, lazy, shiftless, unmarketable wussy still gets top wages in the marketplace."

"I think a lot of women look at prostitutes like they're scabs crossing a union picket line."

Yeah unless Nonis poops the bed and trades Gardiner we've got enough offensive Dmen.

What we need is stability, with toughness sprinkled on top. It'll be a few years before macWilliam is up to speed but there's no doubt how important guys like him are, and can be come April!

Agreed on that, aswell as Gleason will be an upgrade over Ranger who is best suited for the AHL.
- GCHonda

Gleason has played in 4 NHL games this year. For the Hurricanes.

Where, pray tell, does he belong?

Gleason is a tough bottom pairing guy that would most likely thrive under a coach like Carlyle. He would slide in the mix with Fraser, Ranger or Rielly on the bottom pairing and add depth to the d-core.

Liles is another offensive d-man that's stuck in the 8th spot and doesn't have a chance at playing unless the team gets decimated by injuries.

Carolina needs offense from the backend. We need a tough, shutdown guy. A JML for Gleason swap addresses areas of need for both teams. Both have identical contracts.

That's it.

- t_leafs21

no disagreement with your review of Gleason or the situation.

there is however one large problem, Liles has a CAP hit of 3.8 and is currently a Marlie because of it. Gleason carries a CAP hit of 4.0 for this year and two more. No way Nonis acquires Gleason unless Carolina is picking up part of his salary, and given their CAP woes, that ain't happening.

Of course it is.

"Keeping up with the Jones's" is a phrase geared towards women.

Men don't spend half the money they do because they actually 'like' it.

There's no question that cap issues will be a problem for this team going forward.

Dion's a HUGE question mark, and if we sign him then we're going tight for the next half decade.

Personally I think Kuli walks and all his money goes toward Raymond and a 3y/10m deal. Then Reimer gets something like 3y/9m or so.

For 4 million vs. 1, I'll take Ranger all day.

I realize that some people will say, "But we're paying Liles almost that much, anyway."

However, we're saving a portion by keeping Liles in the AHL, and with how tight to the cap we are, I don't see the point in gambling for a player who costs even more and might very well come with less utility and tradability.

Slowly Ranger is starting to figure things out.

By no means has he been stellar, but you're starting to see him string together outings where he isn't lost.

There may be hope for him yet, but I do think he should be our no. 7 until he gets the consistency we need out of him.

I'm assuming Reilly's sitting is to keep him from burning out?

Also, Question: if we're in a really good spot come christmas time, and we're healthy, does Nonis allow Reilly a trip to the juniors or has that ship set sail?
