OK...6 fourth liners and 5 bottom-pair D in front of an unproven goalie. Hope I'm wrong, but this has the makings of a loooong night.

You're not unless luck smiles upon another moronic coaching decision. Hasn't happened so far so expect more of the same.

Good news. he was out a few more games than expected. Hopefully it's not something serious?

Nothing wrong with the viz wanting to be around the guys for a road trip. Who knows maybe his wife is a pain in the ass and he needs to get out for a couple of days

Sounds like this is coming from experience?

You guys here reports on Victor Crus Rydberg, the Islanders 5th round pick last year? I ask because I have seen him play a couple of times with Plymouth this year, and he has been centering the top line between Ryan Hartman (the Blackhawks 1st round draft pick), and Matt Mistele (a possible 1st round pick in this year's draft). He seems solid to me -- 18 points in 20 games as 18 year old first time OHLer. Maybe your typical late blooming Swede.

I read something on him a couple of weeks back and they were really impressed with him so far. Can never have enough prospects playing well

Are you sure about that? Okposo played in all 48 games last season. We were calling for him to get scratched but it never happened.

if Strome was better than Bailey right now, he would have made the team. did you see strome in preseason games this year and last? he was invisible.

So Boulton in tonight. Why? so he can play 6 mins and then our other foward are forced to pay more mins.

Ill take a pointless grabner anyday over Boulton on his best night. Colin McDonald has been worse than Grabner and Bailey.

They guy that has been our best player not name Tavares recently is CASEY CIZIKIS. this kid is flying out there.

Not true. Strome is being measured against Strome. No one else. The Isles won't promote him until they feel he is adequately prepared to play a complete NHL game. That doesn't mean he wouldn't be better already than 3/4 of the players on this team, it simply means they want him to work on other areas of his game.
Bailey has talent, but you need to knock your expectations down a good bit for him. He's shown flashes of being a second line player, but for most of his career thus far, he's been a fringe player at best.

He might be the most frustrating guy on the roster. He shows glimpses of being a really good hockey player and then he disappears for long stretches. I just don't get it

Nolan had Yashin, not the other three. The other three were gone right after the 04-05 lockout ended. Nolan had Richard Park, Andy Hilbert and Josef Vasicek.
- Jethro09

And Smyth, Yashin, Satan, Jason Blake, Zhitnik, Sillinger, Kozlov. Like them or not, those are six forwards who topped 25 or more goals at various points of their career along with a pretty good dman to go along with Brendan Witt. It wasn't a great team but it was a legit playoff team.

I remember when we drafted him, the first thing I did was look up scouting reports on him. Major red flags there when it said "seems to lack the competitive fire necessary to compete on a consistent basis'. I was in favor of Schenn or Filatov so it's not as though my choices were much better, but there wasn't a lot on his scouting report that made me think we needed to abandon a top 5 pick for him.
I'd say that assessment has turned out pretty accurate. Bailey has the hands and vision to be a damn fine forward but he seems to sometimes lack the fire to be a major player.

Their big free agent over the summer was David Clarkson, who is still looking for his first goal of the year

Scouting reports seems spot on. Bailey was rushed but that should no longer be holding him back now.

I'm one of his biggest fans but I'm having a hard time watching him play. Very discouraging. He's actually being given a chance to succeed.

Actually beimng rushed could ruin him for good. It's neither here or there though. Is what it is at this point. He'll turn it around i'm sure but he needs to find some consistency.
