Homer himself has said forwards are forwards.
There's no magic to center v right wing v left wing. If you can play forward.... - bodiva88
While I think that's generally true, some players have more trouble than others adapting to being on the wing vs. center, so it's not always the best situation. |

I woudn't reverse the Carter/Richards trades, as much as I in some way wish we had them back, I like the return...just need more patience to reap the full benefits imo. - exlund
I agree completely. I liked Richards and Carter. With them you knew who the faces of the team were and who the team belong to but I love Simmonds and B.Schenn. Easily my team favourite Flyers along with Lecavalier and Emery. I like the revamp. It must seems like there is a lot more wiggle room to improve if we need to. |

Kings have a Cup... Leafs and Ducks are franchises fully on the rise, and the Jackets are improving... meanwhile, the Flyers are on their way to missing the PO's for the second straight season. It doesn't look like those deals have worked out very well for us so far. - Tomahawk
eh... your just argueing to argue now. The I was just responding that I don't miss any of the young players that Homer supposivly waisted. The richards and Carter deals got them younger not older. Lupul nd Sbisa I dont miss too much. Lupul has turned into a nice player, but he was injured for like 4 years... and hard to watch Bob in Columbus until seeing Mason here... Now I dont even give it a second thought. |

Totally agree... listing them was just to illustrate the quantity/quality of young players that Homer has made a routine habit of shipping out of town.
I hope Homer can keep hanging on to the Schenns, Coots, Simmonds, Voracek, Laughton, etc and just ride out the developmental road bumps. But history shows that most, if not none, of them will be Flyers in a few years time. |

It's fine to be patient, but despite the talent added during the last couple drafts, they still have needs to fill.
Luke Schenn is never going to be an adept puck mover with good mobility. You can be as patient as you want, but it's not going to happen.
Grated, running out blindly and overpaying to fill the needs is dumb. But it's not a guarantee to just sit on your hands. - Jsaquella
I agree with you on Luke. My fear is that they rush into a deal and move a guy like Couturier or Laughton and end up regretting it a few years later. |

I would sure like to turn Coburn and Simmonds into Buff and both Schenns into Yakupov. Then I think you can sit back and be patient... You have your top line scorer, a solid group of support players, and your top defenseman with young d-men coming up the system and a great goalie. |

There's a big difference in refusing to ride out the developmental road bumps and moving a player to fill a need.
Even if those guys all stay and develop, the team will still have needs to fill. |

I'm shocked at how poorly the Jackets are playing this season. I thought they'd hit the ground running in the East. |

Maybe your right... what would we need with someone that might be able to score like Stamkos and someone a number 1 offensive d-man. Just sillly. |

Well, it will take being smart on their part. You can't do another JvR for Luke Schenn trade.
Not that I'm shredding Schenn, but they traded a valuable asset for a guy that really didn't fill a pressing need. That's kind of my issue with Grossmann. You have him and Schenn, both slower, stay at home types, as well as Coburn, who is more mobile, but who isn't much of an offensive defenseman. Mix in Meszaros and the declining Timonen andthere's not a lot of speed and puck skills.
Even adding in Streit does little for the overall mobility, which is basically Gustafsson and Coburn at this point
I watch a team like Phoenix or Chicago play, and their bluelines are full of guys that can skate. They move the puck smartly. They don't make a lot of unforced errors like blind passes that get intercepted at the blue line or needless icings because a guy didn't reach the red line late in a close game. |

I just see a pressing need that won't get filled from within in the next season or so, and I see a kid like Laughton likely being stuck on the 4th line. |

Well, honestly, I'm not a fan of making a couple of big trades either. I think they need to get a defensemen with good mobility and pucks skills in the transitional game and see where it goes from there.
I think adding a guy like Byfuglien would make them a better team in the short term, and provide a bit of a bridge to the future, to develop the kids. With a guy like Byfuglien or Yandle-someone that can play 25 minutes a night and be good in transition-the offense would be better and maybe lessen the need for a sniper. |

What would we do with a rookie who less than two months into his NHL doesn't wanna listen to his coach and cries to the media? |

Put him on a line with Giroux and watch him score 50 goals, and open enough space on the ice for Giroux to score 30..... |
