thinking he needs to generate some more wins before he will get real consideration, be nice if he was the 3rd goalie for experience and confidence.

Just got done watching the top 10 goals of the week. At least this year Giroux is so far behind some of these other guys in explosiveness and skill level. Everything has been a struggle, even his skating.

Ghost is making friends and influencing people...

RPI coach Seth Appert said he believes “Shayne Gostisbehere is the best player in the country right now. (I like) everything about him.”

That's the coach of the other team that Ghost played saying that, too

Maybe Leight, but Dallas claimed Dustin Jeffrey from the Pens.

Mason's play is evident, but he really worked hard and grabbed his opportunity with the Flyers with both hands.

He's had the skill, but had some issues with the staff in Columbus, and also was said to be less than a dilligent worker. That has apparently ended as a Flyer. Bill isn't the first guy I've heard mention Mason's eagerness to work extra hard before and during practices and how he's revamped his mental approach to the game.

Bill Meltzer: Meltzer's Musings: Mason Deserves Olympic Consideration
- bmeltzer

We just got some help from our old friends Mike Richards, Justin Williams and Dan Carcillo with a nice shutouts over the Rangers.

I'm so torn when it comes to the Olympics. On one hand I want Giroux and maybe Mason to get consideration but I want my boys to be as rested and healthy as possible when playoff time comes rolling around. I've looked forward to seeing Giroux playing for Canada these past four years but I'm kinda relieved that he might not make the team.

Just wondering and maybe one of you guys can answer this for me. Who do you guys think is on the short list for most wanted as our number one defenseman next season? It seems more than ever Shea Weber could be out of Nashville. I'm okay with Dion Phaneuf if we can sign him, rather than trade for him. With the state that Buffalo in, do you guys think the Sabres would consider trading Tyler Myers to get the most return? He is the guy I have the most interest in, if possible. Kevin Bieksa is another defender I love as a player.

With all of this being said, what kind of shape might the Flyers be in as far as cap space. Claude Giroux and Matt Read already have inked raises coming. Brayden Schenn still needs go be re-signed and of couse, Steve Mason. Both Schenn and Mason just might be having career seasons.

So what is the reality looking ahead for the Flyers?

I have very little interest in Myers. His game is an absolute mess and he's got a massive contract. Sure he could rebound, but do you want to actually take a $5.5mm risk for the next 5 years that he will? Not me.

I'd be good with Phaneuf, or even a trade that brings in a guy like Bouwmeester or Byfuglien.
