I'm sure they had to have had some scouts see him play, and they probably had some game notes on him. But if that was the extent of their statistical analysis to sign a guy for 3 years, oh boy.

Unless they can line up a trade for a "top pairing defender" with Gagner and/or Yakupov/Eberle then ya, seems like Reinhart isn't the ideal despite how sick he is.

Also Someone needs to spend some time with Belov. He is not a bad player but his shot is so predictable that all a goalie has to do is go down and cover the center of the net. Not any corners because Belov shoots low and to the middle. He is a goalies dream.

That is actually a good thing. Problem is, the forwards, minus Smyth, are not trying to deflect that. Some players will tell you that's a Goalie's nightmare, not dream. In the Oilers case, yes, a goalies dream.

Which is weird, because when they acquired Perron I seem to remember MacT commenting that the pro scouts, and specifically the advanced stats guys, had been hounding them to make that move for a while.
