He failed in every aspect and was worth less than a bag of pucks to this team. So instead of repeating previous failures and attempts on a player that was virtually useless, they decided to try something different.

At some point, you have to accept that the square peg doesn't fit into the round hole. A much better solution than just repeatedly ramming the peg over and over to no avail.
