Don't watch the Devils enough to give you a valid opinion. The Devils are actually a pretty good puck possession team(11th in Fenwick-Close) and looking at that roster I have to say that he's doing an okay job. The Devils just can't seem to score.

depending what your meaning by helping what,if you mean playoff then no but if it's helping the PLAYERS confidence and get then back playing respectfully and to what this team really can do with a better system then yes, I think a new Coach can do that and possibly more.
