The future is finally looking good. Very fun team to watch. The vets suck, but all the kids are great.

Colin, this team is now showing what everyone said we would be, a starless team that will be in the bottom 5 of the league. Not only the Oilers playoff hopes are done by Nov 15th but you could put the Flames, Sabres & Panthers on that list. By mid December or in about 15 games, we should begin our selloff of UFA veterans, lend Monahan to team Canada Jr. team, call up Reinhart, Knight Hanokowski(sp?) & start to play the young guys. We knew this was coming, right?

Oh for sure, and anyone who expected otherwise was being a little foolish, really...but its the compete level which appears to be diminishing of late that bothers me more than losses. I suppose with losing comes a diminished confidence in your game, but Hartley and Feaster needs to find ways to keep his group competitive despite losing to avoid an Edmonton type fiasco.

The last game against Dallas wasn't that bad. Dubnyk played real well and our offense was getting chances, but either got stopped by the post or a hot goalie.

But this is my problem with this group - excuses. Always seems to be an excuse, and dont take this the wrong way as Im not chirping the team, but they cant afford to keep finding excuses...they need to start winning.

That sounds like the excuse used around here for the last few years.

I honestly believe kari to be a top 10 goalie in the league. People may not agree, but I blame that on the stars not being in the spotlight or on for every one to see.

At least we were getting chances and dominating the play at times. There have been games that were god (frank)ing awful to watch.

I think the Smid trade was suppose to address that very thing the team started off great when Gio went down they started to slide a little Smid was brought in as he plays the same style as Gio but I don't think he has had enough time with the team to make a difference.

Gio needs to come back but I don't see that happening for a month or so

I honestly think that we surprised a few teams early on with the level of compete we had. We no longer do that. We are what we are and it will be a loooong season. We are now pretty much where all the pundits expected us to be. Again, compete every night, rotate our young guys through the line up and show some pride. Our future looks bright and its been a while since we've been able to say that.

Side note, Jamie Benn better be in the line up for Sochi...

I actually found myself cheering against Edmonton when the Stars played them. They are doing a top notch job rebuilding.

I want the Oilers to keep losing. Maybe Kevin Lowe will be shown the door.

It was funny to hear MacT saying that the rest of the league see the optimism with the Oilers, too bad the team doesn't.

They were getting crammed last night but I still saw the fight in them....

I agree the last few games haven't been great, but I still saw the fire even last night when it was 7-1.

Not sure what game you were watching?

That pretty much sums it up... The vendors should have offered him some licorice or something...

there were far too many mistakes last night...yes they were still skating and playing hockey, but the fight and "fire" which was evident early on was not there last night...

Well as it stands we're picking in the #5 spot.

The worse thing is these kids get discouraged. They played quite well to start the year, but we ended up with Ukrainian National team goaltending. Now we are getting goaltending and the kids don't have that same spark.

No quick fix unless they trade Eberle and Yak for a quality return.

That's a major factor for sure, but they are very easy to play against...which is well documented.
