I'd let Hartnell go first and crash the net and kill the goalie. Its our only chance.

you like the shoot out? you're the first person I've heard say that.
- FlyerGuy

I can't stand ties. The shootout is exciting to me. I dont see how 4 vs 4 pond hockey is anymore kosher.

for some reason the league thinks the fans LOVE it.

- FlyerGuy

I don't mind it. I also don't mind enforcers and All-Star games but that's just me. I know the Flyers will never be the Broad Street Bullies of old ever again but I still expect them to pick up as many tough guys as they can (Scott Hartnell, Wayne Simmonds, Luke Schenn, Ray Emery, Zac Rinaldo, Jay Rosehill, Adam Hall, Nicholas Grossmann, Steve Downie and sometimes Brayden Schenn).

4 on 4 is still hockey, though ... shoot outs is ... well, just a skills competition.

Ties never bothered me. In life there are sometimes ties ... and in sports there should sometimes be ties.

I wonder if Mason, solid as he has been, has a small chink on his blocker side... 3 of the 4 goals were there and teams seem to be shooting there more. Something to watch....

Because it still involves defense, hitting and moving the puck.

It's moronic to decide a sporting event by not playing the game. I've hated shootouts ever since Sweden won the Olympic gold on the Foppa move.

Tonight was a tie game. The actual hockey game ended tied. The Flyers didn't lose a game, they lost a gimmick.

if so, it's a pretty small chink.

teams are probably just trying different things to beat him.

If it's a skills competition...how can you be upset with supposedly the more skilled team winning. Isnt that the way it should be sometimes?

I like a little 4 on 4, thats fine....but a game needs to end.

Cant stand ties.

Um

I dunno maybe because games aren't played on paper, and the "less skilled" teams really have just as good as a shot to win on any given night?

Those who b*tch about the shootout have to ask themselves are they okay with going to a game knowing a game could end in a tie if they took away the shootout. I believe the older guys grew up watching hockey that way but nothing gets solved when they do end that way. In a non playoff game, you can't have these guys go forever. My first time ever seeing the Flyers play live was back in 2002 against Toronto and it ended 1-1. OT was exciting but once you walked away without a winner, just felt empty. Excited to see my first Flyers game but empty.

I'll disagree. I have no problem rewarding a team sometimes who is more adept at putting the puck in the back of the net off of pure skill.

The NHL had ties for nearly 100 years.

They still have ties. The Jets didn't win the hockey game. They tied the hockey game, 2-2. They won the shootout. Not a hockey game.

In non playoff games, if 2 teams tie, then they tie. End of story.

4v4 for 10 mins. It'll generate plenty of chances, and if none go in, it's a tie.

Sure it's like kissin your sister, but it's better than deciding who wins WWIII by skeet shooting

The dancing was shameful. Even Giroux got on Brayden Schenn's case after Schenn scored his first goal ever at the Winter Classic. Buff is a vet. It wasn't even good dancing.

Yeah they do. But many games decided off of a puck going off someones ass or some guys skate blade. I have no idea why people would get upset over a so called "skills" competition.
