I know right? and they teach you in school that it was Regan and Gorbachev. pushaw.... we all know it was Rocky.

Right, Rocky ended the Cold War, and he was assisted by David Hasselhoff, who singlehandedly tore down the Berlin Wall.

I think the trick is to pretend the series ended after Rocky II, and the others are hilarious, fraudulent sequels. They're like deleted scenes, or an Asylum knockoff.

Kind of like imagining that the only true Highlander incarnations are the first movie and the first 4 seasons of the TV show, and that everything else is just a spoof?

Yup. I'm a big Stallone fan. I have probably seen every movie he's been in.

Lock Up is another classic. I highly recommend it. It was filmed it Rahway prison.

Looking forward to the upcoming Stallone('s corpse) Schwarzenegger('s corpse) team up?

from what people say, he is a very nice down to earth guy. has made some good ones and some real stinkers
- nastyflyergirl

Siskel and Ebert insisted Stallone was a very, very bright film maker anytime they trashed one of his later movies.

He's made some absolute bombs. When you do as many movies as he does, they all can't be good.

Not really. I kinda draw the line at action hero's in their mid 60's.

Well, Schwartzeneger is doing a third Conan movie, although the story it's adapted from takes place when he's an old(er) man.

I've only seen the first two, but I really want to see the third for Eye of the Tiger and Mr. T. I've seen bits of the fourth, it seems rather over the top.

there was a rocky marathon on cinemax a few weeks ago. i stopped at rocky iv, and even that was a bit painful. i refuse to watch 5 ever again. NFG is right, they should have stopped at 2, which is my favorite.

I've heard Rocky V isn't even funny bad, but just awful. No intention of seeing that one.

I don't mind it. Two of the actors who were in it are recently deceased. Sage Stallone, and Tommy Morrison.

Did anyone of here ever watch She-Ra: Princess of Power? I was reminded of it after watching a hilarious review of the Masters of the Universe (He-Man) movie. I never watched it, but read a quick synopsis, and looked at the plot line of the last episode ever made:

"When Hordak kidnaps Swift Wind's expectant mate, She-Ra has to rescue her as quickly as possible. If the baby is born anywhere but on Unicorn Island, it will be just a normal horse and not a unicorn like its parents!"

Yes, exclamation point indeed. I'm amazed the show only lasted 2 seasons with intense, heart-wrenching story lines like that.

I think Rocky, Rocky 2, and Balboa were all great films. If you ever catch the True story of the Rocky franchise it follows Stalone's personal life perfectly...

Rocky 1 under-dog fighter... Stalone underdog actor.
Rocky 2 Rocky is being bashed as a one-time wonder, ridiculed for his intelligence. Stalone was considered a one-hit wonder, no-one wanted Rocky 2.
Rocky 3 Rocky becomes lost in stardom, and with the sucess of Rocky 1 and 2 and Rambo Stalone becomes a mega star.
Rocky 4 Rocky is fighting for more then himself, and Stalone is maturing as an actor with other decent films like Cliffhanger.
Rocky 5 Rocky is beat down, and Stalone is also beat down after a string of bad movies
Balboa, Rocky's carrer is over is missing the love of his life, Stalone hasn't made a good movie for years and career seems to be over, but both make a resurgance.

Rocky V was bad because the studio changed the script. Rocky was supposed to die in the street fight causing a dramatic ending. Could have changed the entire movie.

Slow day so far. I had a question burning a hole in my head at 5:45 AM: Was Rocky IV better than III?

Okay, so to start, they're both bad, but not worse than Rocky V, by far the worst of the series. They both have the death of a main character, and actually feature a pretty good villian. So, let's look at what they can offer:

Rocky III:
Clubber Lang is basically Mike Tyson on steroids. He's a good villian and is an absolute terror in the ring.
Mick dies.
Apollo and Rocky share the staple 80's homo-erotic scene as the frolic in the water and hug in short shorts in slow motion.
Apollo gives Rocky his old colors and helps him annihilate Clubber Lang.

Rocky IV:
Apollo dies during a match vs. Ivan Drago. The match is preceeded by the most insane pre-fight entrance ever.
Rocky undergoes the most manly, most copied training montage of all time.
Rocky beats the unbeatable machine.
Rocky ends the Cold War.

For my money, I'll take Rocky IV, if only for the training montage. Thoughts?
