Lava's style always seemed to play right into the hands of these guys. Lets see what happens if we can clamp down on them with some tighter checking.
- Just5

I think most teams play the clamp down, and theoretically we should have more success vs them now that we have changed systems.

Slow day so far. I had a question burning a hole in my head at 5:45 AM: Was Rocky IV better than III?

Okay, so to start, they're both bad, but not worse than Rocky V, by far the worst of the series. They both have the death of a main character, and actually feature a pretty good villian. So, let's look at what they can offer:

Rocky III:
Clubber Lang is basically Mike Tyson on steroids. He's a good villian and is an absolute terror in the ring.
Mick dies.
Apollo and Rocky share the staple 80's homo-erotic scene as the frolic in the water and hug in short shorts in slow motion.
Apollo gives Rocky his old colors and helps him annihilate Clubber Lang.

Rocky IV:
Apollo dies during a match vs. Ivan Drago. The match is preceeded by the most insane pre-fight entrance ever.
Rocky undergoes the most manly, most copied training montage of all time.
Rocky beats the unbeatable machine.
Rocky ends the Cold War.

For my money, I'll take Rocky IV, if only for the training montage. Thoughts?

i'd probably go with rocky iv, also, in part because of brigitte nielsen. i find it hilarious that a swede and a dane were used for russian characters.

the acting is pretty horrendous in both films, especiallly from talia shire.

I think they should have stopped after Rocky II personally. Talia Shire, in my opinion, is a terrible actress but yet she has been is 2 of the most epic movies with the God Father trilogy and Rocky. Go figure

I've only seen the first two, but I really want to see the third for Eye of the Tiger and Mr. T. I've seen bits of the fourth, it seems rather over the top.

I just hope the team makes it to the arena. I hear of people getting lost in the Winnipeg woods quite often.

A flyers win coupled with losses from NJ and CAR tonight would put the flyers in a nice spot. Regardless of the other games, id love to see the flyers come out hard and finish out this week with a 4 game winning streak.

I've heard that. They wander in, and never find their way buyout. Err, back out.

Well the first 2 are the only good, solid movies. The other 2 are way over-the-top, especially 4. However, that's the only thing they have, to be so over the top that you can have a laugh at them. I mean, honestly; at the end of Rocky IV, he effectively ends the Cold War.

Hey, I can dig it. I watched the terrible Star Trek V in it's entirety, and somehow enjoyed it. What I saw of Rocky IV was entertaining enough.

On a related note, if you need an excellent terrible movie, find "Maximum Overdrive" on youtube. It's Stephen King's 1986 coke-fueled production starring Emilio Estevez and an all ACDC soundtrack (bodiva's favorite band).

You ever catch Stallone's Judge Dredd? That's another cringe-inducing gem.

Unrelated, but I give the big thumbs down to Super Mario Bros. Obviously, not a good movie in any way, but not bad enough to be funny. It literally put me to sleep.

there are certain movies that I am good with making many sequels but Rocky was so damn good and Rocky II was also really good. Just wish they would have left it there. made all of the other ones just made them trivial to me. but thats me.

But if they stopped at Rocky II, they wouldn't the him fight Thunderlips, "The Ultimate Male."

I think the trick is to pretend the series ended after Rocky II, and the others are hilarious, fraudulent sequels. They're like deleted scenes, or an Asylum knockoff.

Yup. I'm a big Stallone fan. I have probably seen every movie he's been in.

Lock Up is another classic. I highly recommend it. It was filmed it Rahway prison.
