I agree with what Bruce was saying yesterday, that these decisions are made based on the impact it will have to the teams/leagues revenue. The league knows they can take away the bigger name players from the Leafs, and the games will still sell out.

boston doesnt generate as much revenue

the leafs are the only franchise who can afford to lose key players and still make all the headlines and sell out and basically not feel even a slight dip in the revenue stream (maybe montreal and vancouver as well)
