Regardless, mckegg is a playmaking center and smith is well smith. It is also evident that guys that are generally older within the marlies dont do much ex: his 1 pt in 9 games with the leafs this season. So... heres another thought, alot of prospects are very eager and "excited" to get a chance when there is a chance, so he may rise to the occasion. That is why id prefer mckegg over smith within the fact that the leafs never give their prospects a chance "once" in a while and i find mckegg more of an offensive threat than smith, mcclement, or smithson

His 1 pt getting 3-4 mins a night with bodie, McLaren and orr. He has some offensive ability as well, doesn't matter that he is 28. If Mckegg was dominating the AHL id be all for him coming up...I just cant see him helping us on the 2nd line when he is basically a 3rd line player in the AHL

Mckeeg was good in the OHL, I hope he ends up finding a groove, and makes it up to the NHL because there is some skill in that kid for sure.
But ATM, I have a hard time agreeing that he deserves a call up.

He is a 3rd liner in the AHL because guys like smith take his minutes... we have prospects for a reason, so if we dont utilize our prospects, whats the point of having him... we gave leivo a chance and he did an okay job, why not mckegg? Mckegg has more skill than smith in my opinion .. leivo is not dominating the AHL does that mean he is poop? no. So its not a big deal to give your prospects a chance once in a while when they are your potential future and smith is out the door by the summer
