Marwood, why so much hate man, as a Cumberlandian and a more importantly an recreational indulger, I would expect more love and patience for the challeneged, whether hockey or religion or politics. Just look at poor old Rob Ford, how can you not relate to a guy who just wants to have a few puffs, drinks and a little sex to go with his anointed position in life, it's all good.

If you weren't a Canucks fan, who would be your team.

I grew up in a Habs loving household, and used to like the Whalers (just to be a contrarian at first) with Ron Francis. Growing up back east, it was difficult to watch much of the teams in the west, but I have no hate for the Flames except now when they are playing the Canucks.

But I don't have much love of the Oilers... especially in recent years, you just wait tho, just wait... city of chumpians as of late. If I was a fan, I'd be screaming to get Lowe out of the front office, I don't know what he has done to make that team better, it isn't working.

Probably the Devils, always cheered for them in the east. Most hated:

Bruins
Rangers
Islanders
Flames

Teams I cheer for:
Canucks
Whoever is playing the Flames.

That's probably one of the more neutral teams in the league, doubt they have many fans/haters outside of their territory. Not to mention that they aren't the most exciting team.

Sounds like me and fantasy football.

If you have money on it, why not.

Also,

This has me scratching my head,,, " there is a big consensus building that if Rick Dudley wants to be the next Sabres GM he should be."

I don't know what the hiring process is in Buffalo, but I don't think it works that way.

They suck, not to mention they play a terrible brand of hockey.

Used to play just for fun, but this year I'm in like 5 money leagues. Looks like I'll be making the playoffs in 4 of them.

Yeah, it was weird that they hired a coach before a GM, but to be fair Nolan has the "interim" tag. I guess they really wanted both Regier/Rolston gone asap. They made the right moves though, those 2 weren't getting the job done.

Halifax only had the Vees (Voyageurs), habs farm team for the longest time. My dad used to tell me stories of him talking to whoever was the habs gm at the time, sometimes good convos or the gm getting pissed off and walking away. I was a booster club member. lol.

Later had the Citadels, Nord's farm team.

So no real allegiances as a kid.

- hillbillydeluxe

The Vees were awesome. Many good times as a kid at the Forum and then the Metro Centre.

A lot of Montreal's greats played in Halifax.

The forum was the best place for skate sharpening.

I remember Carbonneau, Acton, Daoust, Wamsley off the top of my head, even Gainey played there. Montreal was good then and had a deep farm system- they developed players.

Back in the 70's the local junior team in Penticton was called the "Vees", I think they may still be, great name!

Halifax is a beautiful city! I grew up hating the Canadiens winning all the time. My dad did some work for the Canucks in the early 70's, so the team was over at our house a few times. I thought I'd died and gone to heaven, a living room full of my idles!!

Don't worry, Makita, there's a lot of love for the good things in life. I just abhor organized religion and other NHL team fan bases. Otherwise, life is grand!!

That is very cool.

Gives perspective to a young lad. Real people who worked to get to where the were and such. But people none the less. And get to see who is an ass and who you respect more or less because of who they are.

I stopped going to church with the wife. She is catholic, I was raised Anglican. It really pissed me off to attend mass, the peace be with you stuff, and then mass is over and it is every man for himself. I have another workmate who says there is so much racism that many in his parish won't shake hands with each other. Don't understand the hypocrisy.

And other teams fan bases can believe what they want.

Larry Robinson

And check out how many of today's coaches played for the Vees. Crazy.

To be honest, the Forum makes the Coliseum look like the Bell Centre. What a poop hole.

Didn't it have a rat infestation problem too? I remember some of the seats with terrible sightlines because of posts/pillars. Good parking lot for flea markets.

also notice Rick Bowness' name as a player.
